locked out of pcm

I had my computer reprogrammed on ls1 edit through fast chips. I had another tuner try to look at the changes made. Locked out. He was able to get in the back door some how and look but not touch only. Which brings me to my question. If I need to have the dealer work on the car and they decide to read the CPU will they be locked out and will this effect my warranty. Also, is this normal for a tuner to lock out others including the owner of the car and or the dealer from his own CPU?

Are you sure they used LS1Edit? I have it, and I've never seen any option for locking it. Unless they used something else after the LS1Edit programming to lock it. Tell Fast Chips you're going to take it in to a dealer to have the fuel guage calibration fixed, and if it'll be a problem with it locked.

Check out ls1.com and ls1tech.com in regards to this. Certain tuners (fast chips especially and ed wright) lock their tunes. They originally did this so that others could not "steal" their work, but the end result was that owners could not longer tune and were forced to return to the original tuner for small changes.

I would definately complain.

Search the other boards.

You buy your own copy of edit and let the tuner use yours.
It also cuts the cost down after a while. You can also install your factory program back in when it is dealer time.
