Sometimes when I turn the key the motor comes alive as usual and then stops. Try again and won't start........wait a minute then it starts and just stops. Like not getting any gas. Try again and it starts right away and goes all day. Any idea whats wrong?
Clogged fuel filter? When was the last time it was changed? Could be small sediment clogging the fuel filter and then in between start cycles, getting unclogged. While driving, do you notice any hestations while cruising? Find a nice long straight road and put on cruise control. Pay close attention to the car. Do you feel any slight hesitations as if the fuel was getting blocked? It will feel like slight hesitations in the car as if someone was tapping the brakes very gently.

Thanks guys.............I have never changed the fuel filter. That will be done. I have a fuel pressure gauge inside the car. I will take a look at it before and after the car starts. One GREAT forum.
Maybe one of their finer points plugged the gas line.......
That would only happen when it's cold

This may be a complete red herring for you but I had a similar problem when I first bought my car. It mostly started fine but occassionally started, idled sputtering at low revs for a few seconds then stalled. Only solution was to let it sit for a while (up to 20 min) and try again.
I never conclusively resolved what the cause was but noticed that the inlet had a lot of tacky oil. I surmised that the throttle plate was sticking shut at times. I cleaned the inlet and throttle plate and have not had a re-occurrence in 7 years.
Thank you ZEDohSIX I will do that next after the fuel filter change.
The filter is also the fuel regulator so it is not a cheap fuel filter only change.
Before spending $70 plus dollars if you put a fuel gauge tester on the port on left fuel rail you can tell if on cold start if the rail pressure is 58 PSI
If it is changing the filter/reg will not fix the problem.
If changing it use the proper tool as people have broken the plastic hose end off from regulator to engine and now have a hugh repair cost.
Problem could be anything from a leaking fuel injector to being dirty so get a OBD scanner on and really see what the problem is
Is the fuel filter easy to get too? If it is I would be willing to buy the special tool and go to Napa for the filter. How do I describe the tool that I need? Again THANKS guys.
