No Fuel Pressure

Last week the 02 Z died in mid driving and couldn't hear the fuel pump any more at start up. Replaced fuel pump relay and fuse, nothing. replaced fuel pump still nothing. Have no fuel pressure at fuel rails and still cant hear the fuel pump at start up. I have checked all connections and every things ok, It has spark and fuel in tank, what else needs to be checked?

Thanks,
Ben

Re: No Fuel Pressure

Have you checked for any codes on the DIC?

Re: No Fuel Pressure

When you replaced the fuel pump, did you check to see if you had power to it?

Re: No Fuel Pressure

The fuel pump is just dumb "iron". Unlike systems found on the Mustang where the PCM actively manages fuel pressure by modulating pump voltage. The Corvette fuel system is just a pump hooked up to 12V with a mechanical pressure regulator. It runs as hard as it can, all the time. Completely open loop. There will be no DIC codes generated, even if the pump is entirely absent.

Your problem seems to be basic. You replaced the pump, so you're familiar with the setup. Get back under the car and verify that you have power to the pump. If you do, then your replacement pump was bad. If you don't, you'll need to work your way forward to locate the problem. You actually should be able to hear the Fuel Pump relay energizing when you turn the ignition key to On (no crank). You should probably verify that, next (note that in a no-crank situation, the relay deenergizes after a few seconds). You can do it acoustically (listen) or pull the relay and put a meter on the coil connections to verify they're being energized. If the relay is being enabled (it's driven by the PCM), the problem is the wiring between the relay and the pump. If the relay isn't being energized, the PCM wiring harness or the PCM itself will be the next mose likely suspect.
