Reset Oil Light ???

Hello All,

Had the dealer change my oil in the fall of 2007, Put about 1k miles on it since.
Is it possible that the oil light mode needed to be reset?
The light is coming on telling me i have 15% oil life left. I have checked the oil and all looks well.

Please Help. driving me

Thanks
Joe

Re: Reset Oil Light ???

Do you recall what the OLI read when you had the oil changed? Or immediately thereafter?
No way should you drop 84% in 1k miles.

Re: Reset Oil Light ???

Dealer didn't reset the OLM. The cars will get 6000-8000 miles per oil change generally which is well within the capabilities of a good synthetic oil. In fact the car could most likely go double that.

You can follow mileage for this oil change or go ahead and reset it. To reset you can turn the key to the on position w/o starting the car and hit the gas pedal 3 times. You can also do it through the DIC by bringing up the OLM reading and holding the reset button.
