Squeaking on accelaration

Hello all!

I have a question for anyone that might have an idea to what could be causing my problem. My 03 c5z is making a sqeaking noise for a split second when I start to accel, then stops as my rpms continue to climb. Usually happens around 2000 rpm. Almost sounds like a belt slips for a second or can the alternator make a noise like that? Any ideas???

Thanks

Re: Squeaking on accelaration

Could be the alternator, but for starters ... try some belt dressing and see if it stops.
'nother possibility is a weakened idler tension pulley ...
Since some have experienced throwing a belt on high rpm downshifts, the preferred OEM replacement is the LS2 tensioner, which has higher pulley sides ...

Re: Squeaking on accelaration

It is probably one of the tensioners. I had mine start going at 14,000 mls and it did squeak some times but I overlooked it. Then my belt let go and hit my hood, just ripped the liner. Dealer told me it was common and my old Z was an 03 also.

Check your belt tensioner.
