SuperChips Tuner Efficacy

What experiences have folks had with this product? The price list quotes a power increase of +37HP and +26ft/lb. Are these realistic figures? Has anyone dyno'd their z06 before and after? Has anyone even noticed a difference?

At $400, those numbers look like a good value, but I'm a bit skeptical. Folks?

Thanks,

obi.

I have superchips on my 02 avalanche 2500 (8.1L) and I am impressed enough with the way it works---enough so that I will be getting it for my Z. I talked with the customer service manager and he states you will see even more with intake mod and exhaust mod (like stingers). If you go any further than this, they will have to make a custom program for you. I have read the posts on ls edit, custom tuning etc. The superchips is just for the people who are relatively stock and don't want alot of hassle

I would be skeptical about that high a number. I am fairly certain that GM did not leave 37HP in the tune of the Z. On the other hand, with the aftermarket mods and the tune, I could see where you would see some possible gains that high. I read where people have used these, only to find out that in certain cases, they make that much, but for most cases 10 - 15HP are realistic.

I heard Jim Conforti has bought a Z06 again. I think I'll wait to see what he comes up with. He does great work on bimmers.

Why yes.. yes I have

Just finished break in.. will schedule first stock dyno session
for 1000mi.

Like a lot of you, I'm curious what effects additional "mileage"
has on the Z's HP. Ditto for which hardware "works" and
which hardware doesn't work.

I'm actually going to do something about it

Have you heard of a guy in Cal. named Zimmer? I understand he has his own state of the art C5 and Z06 program for tuning!!!

Ron Zimmer was in Yorba Linda, Ca, but I heard he moved to, I believe, Temecula, Ca.

Z Industries is his Company name, but I did some searches and came up with nothing.

Best way to find him would be to call Carroll Shelby's Company in Las Vegas as Ron tunes the Series 2 Shelby Cobras.....

He knows his stuff, but LS1 Edit is much better than sending your PCM off for a "Generic Tune."

I did that when I got my first cam and head work done....sent the PCM to Ed Wright in Tulsa. It was running very rich when I got it back and I didn't want to keep pulling the damn thing out and sending it to him for more adjustments and putting it back in....car down for 2 weeks or so each time. So, I went to Mike Morgan at Morgan Motorsports in Reseda and he dyno tuned it. Result, I picked up 21 rwhp and 21 ft lbs

Later, when we went with a bigger cam and did more head work, we acquired LS1 Edit. Unfortunately, Ed Wright locked my PCM and we couldn't get it to work with LS1 Edit and ended up with a new PCM. Mike Morgan was able to work around the lock, but LS1 Edit's Ken Kelly said Ed Wright plays all kinds of games and you really don't know what you're working on....for example, you think you're working on a fuel table only to find it's actually an ignition table and it ends up being very dangerous. The only safe way out was to buy a new PCM and chalk this lesson up to the "College of Hard Knocks."

My best advise is to find an LS1 Tuner close to home
