Hope you have the extended warranty. If I recall correctly, this code generated a bill in excess of $1K, the dreaded EBCM (Elemctonic Brake Control Module). So, I would worry. Do a search on EBCM, you are likely to find something with the code in it, perhaps even my post from 2 years ago. Hope I'm wrong.

so it sounds like it is a pretty obvious problem with these modules.....no recalls?

You've been on the site far too long to not know that links to non site vendors are not allowed

When you finally cannot get it to clear the message and the lights stay on all the time it will be time to replace. you can get it new or the Abs Fixer rebuilt way. If you decide on new check with Gene Culley at GMPartshouse. He can beat most dealer quotes on the part. I had mine go out on my 02Z at the 34K mark. Don

I have also been on the site long enough to see the same link appear in other threads posted by other users.

If so, it has just not been noticed at this point!
Have you got specific posts in mind or just generalizing?

Mike

Not generalizing at all Mike. In any event, giving very useful information to a fellow owner to help him fix a widely known and experienced problem is what I thought this forum was all about.

Feel free to delete my account, I'm done here.

Well, that's your choice, but don't give a BS reason for quitting. You've been around here much too long for that.

Useful information is given freely by MANY members of this site almost daily to help fellow owners. That doesn't mean they have to break a long standing rule about links to non site vendors.
They just mention the product name or send pm's with links that may be needed.

You could have assisted the member just as much without giving the site link on the public forum.
Think about it...

Mike

That's right around my mileage right now on my 02 and I'm starting to get this code every now and then. Has anyone replaced this module themselves? Does it require any PCM updates or heavy duty equipment?

You can do it yourself. The part is expensive new. The ABS Fixer route of rebuiling it is cheaper. Speedratchet has posted the procedure on here so try a search for ABS or Traction Control and see if it will pull up for you. Or PM him for the info. He is a Great resource. Don

Re: Tell me about code C1214 h c

Just sent mine out about a month ago, fast turnaround time.

I was getting 1214 also.

I did get a 1287 & 1288, had to replace the steering wheel position sensor. Was not as hard as it looks.

Re: Tell me about code C1214 h c

To change it out it is fairly simple.....I also went with the ABS fixer route. Complete turnaround to include shipping days was between 3-5 business days.

Re: Tell me about code C1214 h c

Did mine a few weeks ago. Brandon is the man. It really isn't very hard, you just need the right tool for the job. I'll try to post a write up of what I went through if I ever get a few extra minutes, and get the pics I took all together.

I'm pretty sure every z06 owner (probably EVERY c5 owner) will have to go through this. And the abs fixer route is a few hundred bucks compared to the dealers $1000 replace! Easy choice for an hour or two of work.
