z06 Audio

I realize this is probably a topic most folks here aren't concerned with, but I am!!
I have a 2003 Z06 and it has all the OEM audio stuff. Can anyone here tell me if they have upgraded theirs. Where are all the speaker locations, what sizes, amp location(s) etc. Or can you point me to a good link for this info???

Re: z06 Audio

All I've done to mine is add Alpine speakers in the doors, a PACVETTE module, a mono amp and built a custom enclosure for a sub. Still using the stock head unit.

I am mostly concerned with the OEM headunit and having ipod/blue tooth compatibility.

Seeing how you swapped speakers. Did you retain the Bose amp for all the door speakers???

I assume the mono amp is for the sub and you have installed an aftermarket sub too. Where is the OEM sub located(if there is one)?

Pacvette=interface for adding mono amp?????

Re: z06 Audio

There is a device called iSimple that connects iPods and iPhones directly to the OEM radio. It also charges phone.

When I purchased my 03, it had a version for the iPod that did not work for the iPhone. I eventually found a new one that works with iPhone and swapped out. It was easier than swapping out complete head unit and draining phone battery when connecting with Bluetooth. Just connect iPhone to dongle and go. With head unit set to Aux, it allows me to select next song from head unit.

I still have the iSimple device for the iPod with a new wiring harness.

Re: z06 Audio

There are several members who have done extensive upgrades to the audio system.
Try searching on "head unit", "stereo", "speaker", etc.
Here are a few.

New Stereo install question?
Anyone have pics/reivews on C6 Z06 Radio Upgrades?

Re: z06 Audio

All I've done to my own is add Downhill sound system in the gates, a PACVETTE component, a mono amp and designed a customized fencing for a sub. Still using the inventory go device.
