2 Way Radio Info and Channels

It is suggested that those wishing to caravan or communicate during the fest purchase a 2 way radio.

MODELS
Several makes and models are available, I recommend the Motorola Talkabout Series for the value concious member. These radios range from $19-$35 each, but you can also get them in pairs for about $29-$49 for a good set (Motorola).

A link to Best Buy's selection is below for your convienience.

CHANNELS
A standard channel for Z06Vette.com members to meet on is probably a wise idea so I will make a suggestion.
On a FRS/GMRS radio, you can have channels, and subchannels, called interference channels. IE, Channel 4-12 would be channel 4 and interference channel 12.

Below are the suggested channels for our communication:
6-1 for caravan and general communication
6-2 moderator-staff communication

If someone has a suggestion or better plan, please interject....Most (all?) mods will have radios during caravan and fest, so if you need help, we'll be listening....

Good idea about using FRS radios, JC!

And this is a first for the ol' Zipster....I already have two of those hi-tech thingeees! And I even bought a gizmo that plugs into the FRS with a headphone & mike, so that I can use it hands-free while driving.

So is everyone in agreement that 6-1 will be caravan and general communication and 6-2 will be Moderators and Staff comm.?

We might not want to go with subchannels as there are a lot of folks with FRS radios that do not do subchannels.

I would suggest:

Channel 6 for Caravan Communications
Channel 7 for Moderator/Staff Communication
