I can meet up with you in Houston and drive to Texarkana...to meet the rest of the group...There are a couple of us from Houston planning to attend.

i was originally going to OKC to meet up with randi. she is now flying in so i am driving. my resevations are for 20th. however, we can leave at any time (my son is going with me). i had the idea of meeting up on monday night in texarkana and driving in the following morning (I30 to I40 in little rock). this will probably be a good day's drive depending on what time we start out. this would allow people coming up from houston and south texas to meet up with those of us coming up from san antonio, austin and dallas.

if any of you are interested, post up and i will try to get routes, miles and a motel for the night in texarkana.

The drive to Texarkana from Dallas is only about 3 1/2 hours (or less ). I would plan to leave early Tuesday morning and meet the Caravan in Texarkana before it left.

What time would the group be leaving Texarkana?

i am down and listening.

La Quinta or the Holiday Inn works for me. Case, Rob, Z06_19ui, and Garett are the only people from Houston I know coming to the fest. I don't know if they are leaving in the AM on the 20th or the PM on the 19th to meet up in Texarkana. I have not contacted either one them. I am sure they will chime in later. I can go up thru san antonio, austin, and dallas to texarkana, or up 59 thru Houston. Depending on when Case leaves, that will determine my route. I wanted to meet up with him in Houston on the 19th, but my guess is he will be leaving in the AM on the 20th. I don't know. Either way I will stop in Texarkana on the 19th.
I figure that by your choice of the Holiday Inn that it is closer to the freeway? La Quinta is a tad cheaper and higher rating, but is it too far from the expressway?

I was planning to leave EARLY on the 20th to meet ya'll in Texarkana, but that would be about 4:00 AM from Houston. Per mapquest, Houston's about 285 mi. to Texarkana.

I figure 8am departure is an estimated time. I am flexible on the time, but I don't want to leave too late either.

Maybe we can have a pre Fest Fest in Texarkana!

Jack,
Well it looks like reality has set in!!
It was one thing to drive 500 mi. each way from Chicago last year!
Why in the hell do I want to spend 44-50 driving hours and put 3500 miles on my car to come to the Fest this year??

All I really want to do is make contact with friends I met last year and meet some new ones this year that only have names!!
I'm going to fly out and back to have fun at the Museum, under The Arch and at Church!! I'll bring a ton of DV tape to capture the fun!!

Maybe Casey will let me ride with him on one of the 'outback tours'!!
Now all I have to do is get ahold of Adam to see how to cancel all the 'car' stuff I signed up for!

My house to Texarkana is only 200 miles, less than 3 hours. I'll meet you guys at whatever place and whatever time you decide.

We probably should make a list of cell phone numbers so everyone can stay in touch. I also have two Motorola FRS radios, can loan one to one of the other drivers.

I can drive up on the 19th and stay the night. I was planning on leaving early morning on the 20th...that's what I did last year but, I stopped in Memphis for about a week so it wasn't as long of a trip as it will be this year. Either way is fine with me.

I also have an FRS radio, nextel two way, CB, and two GMRS radios. I can loan the FRS and one GMRS radio out. If you don't have a radio...I would get one. They really help out. I'm planning on trailering the car this year but, I'll have no problem keeping up. Of course, things could fall through with the trailer and I might end up driving...either way I'm planning on joining the caravan.

Alright! Looks like we got ourselves a caravan!

Jack, that's a go on the block reservation. I will PM you with my contact info.

Case, I can contact you when I get to Houston and take off from there if you want. I'll purchase a FRS / GMRS radio if you tell me where to get one.

Rat, don't forget to set your alarm clock. You too, Rob, if you decide not to stay the night in Texarkana.

Hope more of you chime in to let us know if you're going also!

Laters.
