SW caravan ideas

I know it's only Feb, but being new to this part of the US and not remembering how many representatives we had make it to last years fest, let's talk!
My first idea is to meet at various points and drive to BG in a true SW caravan!
We will have a great four days of Z06 fun then load the cars on a trailer and fly home.
I know after all the fun last year and a full nights sleep Sat night, the trip back to the Chicago area on Sun sucked.
The truck driver can offload the vehicles at various locations on his way back to the So Cal area.
My 96 cost $700 to ship out here, so I know if we get a whole load that cost would drop!!
Just something I wanted to throw out there for people from 'out here' to think about
Believe me, the event is just TOO much fun to miss! I WILL be there this year even from way out west!!

Ken

I'm new to the Forum, (since Sept) and my Z06 (ditto), and was thinking about driving (both ways) to the Fest this year, just to check it out. Your idea to trailer back is interesting, I'll have to think about it. Why are you not interested in driving back? Just curious...

I've made the trip a couple times already and it's so-o-o-o boring! I don't mind the miles on the car, but I will be getting close to the 10K mark for the valve springs. It's cheaper to ship the car back and have the springs redone in town by Xtreme than having one fail on the way back and getting stuck in BFE for who knows how long!
The ride out will be fun if we can get in a group. The thought of ten days in the seat of the Z is a little too much for my fat old ass!!

OK, another month has passed and I don't see any posts for a SW caravan!?
Is everyone going to wait till the last minute to decide whether to go or not?
I'm definitely driving out and shipping back.
The path to BG from Scottsdale is open!
I have lots of time, V1, handheld CB and scanner, a laptop w/GPS and Street Atlas!
If this Fest is anywhere near the fun I had last year, you people will be kicking yourself if you don't make time to join us this year!!!!!!!!!!

I would be intrested if

there was lots of beer involved and

shipping would not be too expensive

the second one is much more important than the first
waht kind of rates are we looking at to ship, and with whom are we shipping

This is the route I'm taking so I can meet up with Jack in Texas. It's a lot longer for me so I might not come back the same way.

Randi,
If you can put together a schedule of what you would like to do that would be cool!
It's way early and a long drive, but it would be fun to meet in Flagstaff and go from there!
Polar Bear I haven't even looked into prices yet!
You guys can't come up with 50 bucks for a banner and I'm going to worry about getting my money back for shipping charges??
I would like a caravan out, I am shipping my car back and flying home!!

My tentative schedule puts me in Flagstaff at 10 AM. I'm planning to stop in Amarillo for the night & meet up with Jack the next morning.

Well it looks like reality has set in!!
Why in the hell would I want to spend 44-50 driving hours and put 3500 miles on my car to come to the Fest??
All I really want to do is make contact with friends I met last year and meet some new ones this year that only have names!!
I'm going to fly out and back to have fun at the Museum and under 'the arch'!!
I'll bring a ton of DV tape to capture the fun!!
Maybe Casey will let me ride with him on one of the 'outback tours'!!

Black Widow, are you still planning this great adventure? We're driving up from Dallas to Little Rock on the 20th, then on to BG on the 21st. When are you coming through, maybe we can meet up in LR?

I hope to be driving out of southern Colorado on the afternoon of July 20th. If anyone is interested in hooking up somewhere in eastern Colorado or anywhere in Kansas along I-70 and caravaning the rest of the way to BG please PM me or send me an email through the site. Should be passing through Kansas City sometime during the day on the 21st.
Can't wait to meet all of the members attending the fest, and checking out all of their badazz rides! Jim L.

We will be leaving CA on the 19th and taking the 15 to the 40. We will pretty much driving straight though except for gas, food and etc. But will be towing the Meanie behind this it's ugly but it was cheap This way the kids can play in the back and not be stuck in the truck the whole trip
