I went with the shorty (9") mod. Just cut down the stocker. In the Phoenix area the land is "flatter than a mallard's instep" so I get perfect AM/FM reception. If you are in a more hilly area, get the power ant. JMHO HarleyB

I ordered a shorty antenna from Jake-seems like it picks up MORE stations than the stock one-and I live in WV! haha

Radio Shack has a rubber shortie that looks 100% better than stock and I see no difference in reception.

A lot of Radio Shacks don't handle car antennaes anymore although that's where I got my shorty several months ago. Auto Zone is where my son bought his. My 98 Indy Pace car reception was so bad that I mostly listened to CD's unless I was parked in front of a radio station, however, the Z06 reception with the shorty is pretty decent even in West Virginia.

levettegrl, I'm through Parkersburg fairly often. In fact, I have a meeting there the 21st of August and will probably stay overnight the 20th. There's another Z06 in Parkersburg who goes by
ZMAN and works at Dupont. It would be neat to get together.......We had 5 at Hooters in Charleston earlier this summer.

BTW, these shorty antennas aren't worth a damn for AM/FM reception, but great for looks.

This is definitely closest to being the shortest next to none.

Thanks for the comment on my VERY short antenna. But I have very good AM/FM reception because I have put a cable at the end of the antenna plug (inside of the car!). This works very well here in Switzerland and it should also work as well in the US. I can recomend this mod to all those with VERY short antenna.

Try it. It works well without the cable in the trunk. Had the lower part of Big Blues' rear painted black and the paint shop put the antenna in the trunk. I drove home with the radio on and didn't even notice it was missing till I got home. I did get some codes though.

As I said... it's works good here in Switzerland with the cable and perhaps you don't need it in other countrys. Without it I can only recipt the local radio station.

I've got the Convertible power antenna and a hidden switch under the dash to put it up. Mostly play CD's, but seldom need to flip the switch as the am/fm reception is excellant.....of course that's driving around town in Los Angeles, which can be hundred's of miles in just about ever direction.

When in the country I just flip the switch and reception is greatly improved.

Remember, radio waves can easily pass thru fiberglass composites.....
