Hi Rob1Vet,
Yes, you will need to run a new power harness from the front. You can get power for the harness from the spare power connector located underneath the passenger's floor panel. To get the antenna to go up when the radio is on you can connect to the Bose Signal processor located above the gas pedal. I think there is a tech tip on the "other forum" for the power antenna install. Also, you can order the GM power antenna instead of the aftermarket power antennas to save $.
We just did the install in my 02' and it a little pain, we picked the signal up in the inside fuse panel on a bose relay, and the power from the extra acc. lead that the factory supplies, well worth the effort.

If you decide to pull the trigger and perform the install, please post your results. I have been pondering this change, but................ not sure I want to "dive" into this one yet?

FEAR THE MIATA
RAM AIR TONY and I installed the power antenna on my 02 Z06 yesterday. Actually, Tony did all the install and I just watched. Took about an hour and the kit from Mid America is excellent. It comes with complete instructions. Really looks 100% better than the fixed antenna. Turn on the radio and the antenna just goes up like it is on VIAGRA.
Al, you could have bought the tenna from Fichtner Chevy and saved yourself about 100 dollars from what Mid America charges, I was going to buy the Mid America one until Bob at Fichtner told me the tenna and bracket were under 85 dollars.
