Great job! I finished my install on Saturday and it sure does perform as you described it in the review. I'm using the stock shift knob right now and waiting for the MGW triple chrome to arrive early this week.
Looks good Frank...................really like the close pattern shifts.........what a difference!!!!!!!!
Looks like it would be near impossible to MISS 3rd on this set up.........
Nice write-up on your review. I liked the animation shifting through the gears. I'm glad you like the new shifter as my friend BLU-BY-U really likes his BPP shifter as well.
How did your BPP compare to the Ripper in transmitting driveline noise? Did you attach the shift arm directly to the shifter or did you use the wedge?

Like I told JC yesterday, I swear, I couldn't find anything wrong with the shifter...NADA!! It was smooth and quiet. I am really at a loss for words, I just couldn't find anything negative. If I would have, I would have put it in the review.
To answer your other question, I mounted it on the passenger side without the wedge. When I first ordered it, I thought I would have it on the drivers side with the wedge, but after a little experimenting, I placed it where it was most comfortable for me. I'm 6'1" and 225 lbs., so I tend to take up a lot of room in the seat.
I know FRC Tom has the shift handle angled the opposite direction compared to mine. That's the nice thing about this shifter, you can adjust it to your own personal preferences.

I'm half your size Frank, I can hide behind a fence post.
I told you you would like it, haven't steered you wrong yet.
Frank, great review. I purchased the BPP shifter a couple of weeks ago and have it installed. Its a great shifter and as you mentioned with the different positions available makes it even better. Its like night and day compared to the stock shifter. I haven't experienced any rattles or excessive vibrations with this shifter as members have complained about with other manufacturers shifters. I would also recomend this product to other members.
Your review and previous posts were very helpful and shortened my install time considerably- Thanks.
A couple of comments, in addition to the fact that the shifter works as I hoped it would;
1- the diameter of the "ball" at the bottom of the BPP shifter (on which you snap the nylon "cap" that actually makes contact with the transmission mechanism) appears to be smaller than the stock shifter. This causes some slop between the cap and the BPP shaft. I have not driven the car briskly yet but I will be particularly interested if this can be detected during driving.
2- for those who might be considering an aftermarket shift boot realize that the base of the BPP shifter is quite broad below the threads (as the review so nicely depicts). This is not just an issue for aftermarket shift knobs but also for "short" shift boots. Because of the wide area below the threads the small aperature at the top of the boot cannot move freely up and down the shifter mechanism. There is barely enough slack in the short boot to accomodate the BPP shifter through its range of motion. Therefore if you go aftermarket, my suggestion would be to stay with the stock boot length.
