<< I am sure that I will get some crap for this post but maybe I will "save" someone. >>
I have been a HUGE fan of Zaino for the past 2 years...in fact I have told EVERYONE to get it.
Well, this summer I have been washing / waxing my car with my buddy that has a 911 turbo. He uses Griot's products (Griot's Web Site) and I alyways made fun of him. Telling him that my stuff was so easy to work with etc.
The other day I just couldn't get over the color of his red 911...it was so deep and rich looking. He has always tryed to get me to use his stuff but I didn't want to mess up the "Zaino layers". I finally gave in and man what a difference!!!! The black Z looked amazing!!! I totally hated to admit it...I felt bad for even thinking about it but the truth is I am sold on their stuff!
He said if I switched I would have to buy him some wax and clean his wheels with a Q-tip. Looks like I am out some cash and hard work but it is worth it!
If any of you are looking for something different, you might want to give it a try. After thinking about all the money that I spent on Zaino....all of the layers that I put on...I wanted to cry. The stuff goes on / off just as easy....it smells good...costs about the same (maybe less) but it looks better and lasts longer. That stuff about Zaino repelling dust?!?!?! HAHAHAH YEAH RIGHT!
Which of Griot's products in particular have you tried, and liked. This is always a hotly contested topic, but I always wonder if there is something else out there...

Do not worry about the world ending today, it is already tomorrow in Australia...
I used their "Best of Show wax" One coat and I was shocked. I had already had 5 coats of Z5 and 6 coats of Z2. I used the ZFX and the clay bar too....I followed the instructions to a T. Adding a coat of the Groits wax on top made the Z shine like the day I bought it!
I had an 01 silver Z06 and started using Zaino when I got it. I loved Zaino...I bought it for my friends to try. Heck I asked Sal if I could become a distributer of the stuff. The day that I got my black 02, I used Zaino from the ground up...clay bar, Z6 between each coat etc.
I know that its hard to imagine something better....I just wanted to share my news with you. If Zaino makes you happy, great...stick with it. If you are curious to try something else, you might want it to be this product. NOTE: They have a ton of cool stuff for guys that are freaks about their cars.
I have used Pinnacle Souveran, that stuff is awesome. Before I use the Souveran I use Klasse on the car then the pinnacle, let it sit for a day and then WOW!!. Try the Klasse/Pinnacle conbo and you'll never go back to your old stuff
hahaha....funny you should say that Frank, we must think a like because one of the things I didn't like about Zaino is that it takes time to get. You can't just want to the auto store and pick up a bottle.
This stuff is the same way.....sad to say. I have the link above if you go to their site.
I did buy their power orbital...if you read about it, it sounds awsome. Ok so maybe they just have a great marketing department. I will post the results (pics) after I work on my car...I will practice on my "OTHER" car first
I have a question about the Zaino? I always hear comments about Zaino users applying coat after coat of the stuff, does Zaino instruct it's users to apply so many coats I've never used Zaino, but other products that I have used, I've never had to apply so many coats to get a good shine.
About a year ago, I tried using waterless car wash, and it left a nice coat of polish, I followed that up with a coat of Meguairs and it shined unbelievable.
Like any skeptical consumer, I begin to think that it is a big money maker for someone. The instructions make you feel like if you don’t use all the products (clay, wash soap, polish, wax, ZFX to make it dry) that you will not get the full benefit. Who wants to put this kind of time in not to have it be the best that it can be? Why the heck do I need to pay 29.95 for some chemical to add to my wax (Z2) in order to make it dry faster? Package it with the Z2 to being with.
Which producats does your buddy use on his 911?
I saw this:
THE ULTIMATE HAND POLISH KIT
For those who wish to hand wax your cars, I recommend these basics as a complete kit. Start with the 8 ounce bar of Paint Cleaning Clay to remove any roughness or contaminants lodged in the paint. Use Speed Shine® with the Clay which acts as a lubricant for a smooth surface. Use Fine Hand Polish to reduce swirl marks. Finish up by protecting and enhancing your paint with Best of Show Wax®. Your paint will never be smoother and time between waxing will be longer. Between washes, maintain your "just waxed" appearance with Speed Shine®.
Not sure if this is what your talking about or not.

He uses all of their products (and he is a total rookie with cleaning the car let me tell you.) He bought some pacakge deal.
I just used the "Best of show wax" 19.95 for a 16 oz bottle which lasts a long time! Nothing more.....it worked like a champ!
All you need is the one bottle of wax. Their "Speed Shine" for between washes works great too. I hear that the class cleaner is junk. The tire dressing stuff and the wheel cleaner are probably nothing special??? I will let you know if I try something else from them.
They have a ton of cool products though...check out the site....cool stuff for the garage!
Is it a synthetic polish or a carb asomething wax.
I hear all the time that Zaino wins out over "regular waxes" because it is a sythetic polish and not a wax that melts under hot temps. and therefore lasts longer than 1 month.
I hear that the griots stuff is very good quality, but kind of overpriced. I bought their clay and it work great. It was about $30 shipped but was over twice the amount of clay than everyone else offered.
Sorry my friend if its a carnuba which "best of show" is, its not going to outlast zaino or any other synthetic type stuff. Especially on black you car out in the sun will melt the carnuba away and with weekly washes it will last about 4-6 weeks. Let us know how long it lasts.
As far as ZFX the cost is $20 not $30.
Speaking of all the money you spent on Zaino and the steps you took. Any car that you wax or apply zaino to should be washed, clayed, washed and then the wax or zaino of your choice applied. Their are not that many more steps to Zaino.
Look at the where the body panels join together and with a carnuba you will have residue, there is not residue with zaino.
I can put 3 coats of Z2 w/ ZFX on my car in less than 2 hours if the car is already washed. I would not consider that time consuming at all.
Do you have any Zaino vs griots pics? Would love to see them.
Best of Show from Griots is a carnuba wax. It will not last like the synthetic based polymers (i.e. Zaino) due to the lower temperature melting point. Give it a month and you will see. Trust me, I have used it as well on my black Expedition.
The Hand Polish also contains fillers. Thus, it might look good for the first wash or two and then the swirls most likely will return.
Also, no white residue in the cracks, under trim, etc. with Zaino. Carnuba waxes will leave this residue!!
One thing about Zaino that I have yet to find in another product is....It's OK to get it on plastic and trim pieces and it wont stain it. I got Gold class on my rear brake ducts once and it stained them badly. Zaino doesn't leave white residue in every crack either. Is Griots safe on plastic?
