New GP: Rear Gearing Upgrade 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.10

We would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome to the Z06 community and as part of that thanks, we are offering a special GP price for our DTE built, high performance rear differentials to the members of this board from 9-25-03 to 10-05-03, or until we're out of units.

We require only 6 participants to fill and each unit is sold outright w/ no return core needed. The GP price includes shipping from DTE via FedEx regular ground to anywhere in the continental USA to a residence or business address.

We are using BRAND NEW 3-series units from Getrag for cores and of course, each one of these units will receive DTE's proprietary upgrading/blueprinting methods that provide quiet, trouble-free, high performance operation for your Z06 Corvette.

Each unit also comes complete w/ two bottles of RedLine synthetic differential lubricant, warranty documentation, break-in instructions and a bottle of GM limited slip additive for a hassle free, end user installation. Lubricants will ship in a separate box to prevent spillage.

There are also no PCM calibration changes required with M/T vehicle's for correct speedometer operation due to the Y-car VSS sensing speed directly from the ring gear.

DTE-built Getrag differential specs. are as follows and includes:
-BRAND NEW Getrag 3-series core
-Complete disassembly and component inspection
-Internal and external case deburring
-Carrier deburring
-Gear set deburring
-Improved bearing oiling
-Loc-tighted fasteners
-Case and internal component cleaning
-Timken bearings, races, seals and O-rings
-Motive Gear ring and pinion set
-Blueprinted to exacting specifications and tolerances
-Your choice of 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.10 ratio
-Redline lubricant
-GM limited slip additive
-Professional installation and build quality
-Quiet operation
-FREE shipping
-Written, 2 yr./24,000 mile warranty

Outright Differential Purchase: $1399.00

High Horsepower Applications:
For those of you that have vehicles making serious power, including those that anticipate future engine performance modifications, the 300M, severe duty, high performance output shaft is strongly suggested to insure differential durability under high horsepower and torque loading applications. There is no extra labor to install this component, only the cost of the shaft itself.

Add to above: $329.00

If you would like to participate, please indicate so by posting w/ the specifics of the build you want and I'll be in contact w/ you for shipping/payment arrangements via email. Completed differentials will be shipped to their respective owners the week of Oct. 6th. (after the GP has expired)

As always, if anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me directly at (260)407-5455 x11. Or see us here: www.dynotech-eng.com

Regards and God Bless!

Nice deal! Glad to see it!

The Red Line synthetic rear end lube that I have already has the additive in it. Is this different?

We use Redline 75w/90 and include the additive as a preventative measure against clutch pack groan on very tight corners, which we have observed from time to time when the diff. gets up to operatiing temperature, even w/ the redline lube used by itself.

Regards,
Phil

Can someone give me a ballpark price on how much it would cost to have a mechanic install the rear-end .

300-400 is fair. IMHO

I did the 04 shocks at the same time so I paid a little more.

Good mods to do at the same time if your thinking about the shocks.

I dig the 3.73 getrag unit I just installed a week or two ago..

The cars ability to always pounce is awesome.

Don't know what its worth in the 1/4 mile and could care less.

Put a 3.90 or in my case the 3.73's and its a different car.

Z06's are best served on street tires with 3.90's from what I've heard.

I like this 3.73 unit so much I may not even do a cam ... (yeah right but for now..its a nice upgrade..)

My shifts changed about 6 mph sooner ..

First is now about 42 instead of 48mph..
Second is now 60mph instead of 66 mph..

These are just rough estimates of new shift points.

I will say that the CTS V series with the Z06 engine and M12 tranny comes straight from GM with the 3.73 and tops out at 171mph (without limiter) GM should have made the Z with the 3.73 standard...and the 3.90 as the performance option

Totally civilized and totally kick @ss.

btw I also easily sold the z06 3.42 rear diff for 480 dollars shipped.

I had tons of inquiries to buy the unit after I sold it too..

Just an fyi..

Its heavy to ship though at around 73 lbs and 80 dollars with insurance through fex ed and boxed by Mail box etc.

i am seriously considering this. can this be done by the mechanically inclined? or does it require special tools? i guess $$400.00 is not that expensive, it's just trusting someone with my car......inevitably they will have to "test drive" it. that in itself may deter me....

You could probably get it done for less if you look hard.

Its not a hard job but it would most likely be better done by someone who does this for a living..

JMO..

How about Norris in florida...sure its a trip for you but it could be fun. Believe me the ride home will be worth it.

Figure a four hour install give or take an hour ...

what do most people do that have SC's? I am looking at a Magnuson this winter.....I have read that with gears that are too high that you will find yourself with a VERY quick shift......comments?

Also, I figured the 3.73 would yield about 10% lower feul economy (I do a lot of highway driving...work is 60 miles away...one WAY!) Comments would be appreciated here as well....

It is very tempting.....the price is certainly a GREAT price.....and no core...which is even better in my opinion. let me know....

regards, Herb you just think that is guiness I am drinking..but really it is Redline Synthetic!!!!

I would say the 3.90's are best suited to the Z06's M12.

Remember the Cadillac CTS V series that weighs 600 lbs more than the Z has the LS6 motor/M12 Z06 tranny and has 3.73's as its rear gear ratio.

If your having rear gears built go with the 3.90s. Its the best setup.

As far as gas mileage..I haven't noticed any change with the 3.73's and if your doing highway driving...5th and 6th are overdrives anyway.

I dig my 3.73's as it only changed the mph at redline by only about 6mph (lower) and the cars a beast!

Exhaust sounds much better too..maybe cause its spooling up faster...

Totally streetable package as you can see GM installed this 3.73 gear in its CTS V series right from the factory and it has our tranny and motor.

When going for a little extra and your having the rear gear built..I would highly suggest the 3.90..

Its the right gear for the car stock...lightly modded and with heads and cam.

As far as superchargers go...that I don't know anything about.

Good luck...

Its the best mod I've done and I know the 3.90's would be even better. ..(but still not over the top)
