royal blue I bought my 99 fixed roof coupe because they were giving them away and my z06 because i leasrned to like the body and wanted the extra power.Honestly though the frc was a bomb from a sales point of view, however there were substantial tooling costs z06 not a bad way to recoup costs . I bet when these costs are recouped we will see a coupe maybe even a convertble how do you say 50th anniversary
I dont know ... my take is that the FRC is inherently a stiffer chassis than a vert or removeable roof coupe can ever be, and this makes the best platform for high HP.

Ready to embrace the aging process, but I can't lift my arms.
With Jerry on this, as is the GM team........the FRC is the only platform that can be lightened & be able to absorb the extra HP......
Dave Hill said the Zo6 will NEVER be offered in any model except the FRC..........

Jerry has the answer, you need to listen. BTW, your FRC may have been a giveaway, mine certainly wasn't. My FRC just keeps getting better with age, and I'll be talking about her improvement with the OEM 2002 Z06 wheels and Toyo Proxes T-1 tires as soon as I get them mounted and installed.

Personally, I like the FRC body style over that of the hatchback. It has the same lines as the convertable with its top up. And like the others have said, you get a much stiffer unit with the frc. And guys, we all know that you need a stiffer unit when you are performin'...

The FRC in my opinion was not a bomb. GM could have sold a lot more of them by just adding all the options that you could get with the other models, incuding exterior and interior choices.
By offerring the car way they did with few options cuts down on the time it takes to run them down the line. At $550.00 MSRP less than the Coupe they more than likely made more money off of the FRC.
The FRC was built more for the hard core Vet owner that does not want an automatic or soft suspension.
I do not believe the tooling cost was that much, they just had to make a top for the Vert.
The Z06 was already being tested in '99 so it was not built to save a car that had only just been released.
Dave Hill built these cars for one reason, speed and handling. Finally a Real Corvette again.
I have had other Corvettes, '54s, '56, '58s, '62s and they were great for their time but 1963 changed all that with the Coupe a stiffer car. The '63 Grand Ams and the RPO Z06s were kicking butt at the track and they continued to do so right through 1967 with the L88.
