it won't stick

first off, thanks to everyone who responded to my question about the noise partition. i ordered one from andy today and can't wait to get it installed. my question this time is about those carpeted trunk lid liners. i bought one about a year ago, and after installing per instructions, it didn't stick real good. it's getting a lot worse. anyone have any suggestions short of bolting the darn thing in? also have the same problem with the mirrored tile under the hood. what's the secret?
