422

hey guys i was having stage 3 h/c package put on my car but decided to go with the 422 from Agostino Racing whats a good cam that i can get the most power out of but is everyday street driver. Im also putting kooks 1 7/8 with x-pipe and cats, vararam,Fast intake with 90mm throttle body and borla stingers. How much hp should i be expecting and im debating whether to put a TNT kit or not. Was also thinking of adding a charger instead of the nos, but i was told why waste that much money when i can spray 150-300 and is there any other little add ons i can throw in.

vcav, I'm guessing of course, but I'd say that with the 422 stroker, vararam, Fast intake and Kook's headers you will probably be in the 500 to 550rwhp range.
As for the cam, I think you will need to decide first whether you're gonna run N/A or if you will be adding a blower or spray. If you decide to go with either of these power adders, your choice of cam will be different than with N/A. Also, if you decide to go blower, the heads should get some work to lower CR. That will determine the level of boost you can run. Remilling the combustion chambers at the same time as you get the motor built can save you considerable bucks if a blower is in your future.
I would also be hesitant to spray over a 200 shot on a stroker engine....but that's just me.

As for your 1 7/8" headers, I don't think you will get the maximum potential out of that mod unless you run 3" midpipe and exhaust all the way through. In my opinion, it doesn't do a lot of good to open up the exhaust with the headers only to place a restriction in the path with a 2 3/4" exhaust. Believe me, I hated giving up my Borlas but one mod ties into the next, if you know what I mean.

Best of luck on your project! Sounds like you are gonna build a true monster Z

Mike

if you have the money for a supercharger and turbo why bother spraying? its much easier no refilling or heating the bottle ur always good to go... as far as ur cam choices i think mike made it more than clear that at this stage you chose the whole package at once.. u need to decide if your adding a power adder or not catback and header choice is improtatant... the key to a good stroker set up is combo matching IMO

I don't think that Kook's has the 3" midpipe/x-pipe (whatever you choose to call it). At least they didn't when I bought my setup. StainlessWorks was the only one that had the 3" midpipe and exhaust when I did mine but other vendors may have come out with one since. Even the StainlessWorks midpipe had a taper down to the exhaust flange (I assume to bolt on to other exhausts) and we cut the taper out and welded a 3" stainless steel pipe from the midpipe to the catbacks so there would be no restriction.
We went 'catless' so I don't know if Random Tech or anyone else does a 3" cat set up but it is likely.

I'm going with the Kooks 1 7/8" headers with Random Tech metal matrix CATs and the Random Tech x-pipe and center section in 3" dia. SS.

This is from the Random Tech website for the C5/Z06:

"Complete all-stainless steel high flow converter/X-pipe assembly is available in 2-3/4" and 3" diameters."

Yes, Kooks has a 3" crossover now. Thats what I have on my car now. Random tech has had a 3" crossover for at least a year or so.
