What are the symptoms if your belt slips? Will the car lose power only briefly? Or will it be weak throughout the powerband? Does it only happen during full boost? How does the car feel when the belt slips?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Actually, it could be any/all of the above

Examine your belt closely about 2 or 3 inches from the alternator. You should not be able to twist it more than 90 degrees. Look for any fraying of the belt or a white line running horizontally along the belt. If it is slipping very much, the belt will ride up the side of the idler lip or tensioner lip and you should be able to spot the frayed side of the belt fairly easily.

Remember, even with the 8 rib pulleys, the tensioner needs to be readjusted after running the car for a while. The belt will stretch just a little after the install and readjustment is required.

Mike

Cerberus, when my belt slips on my supercharged Porsche 928, the boost gauge needle will hit a certain point, pause, and then fall backwards; time to tighten the belt!

It's an 8-rib belt, and it has to be pretty tight.

You can also look for black dusting around the crank pully.
