Before I SC, should I...

Hello guys,

I'm thinking about a Kenne Bell Supercharger for my 02 Z06. I was just wondering if I should beef up my rear end a little because of the high torque at low rmps? Im not talking about spending tons more money just to be safe, I'm just wondering if I should invest in the DTE Differential Strut Brace and/or a hardened left output shaft. I have a OZ7000 clutch in the box waiting to be installed and i'm sure, if possible, I could do everything at once if needed.

I probably won"t even get enough traction to hurt anything with 500+ rwtq at 2500 rpms.

please let me know what you think,
thanks,
B

Depending if your going to track the car or launch hard.

What tire setup are you running?

If you have anything that is going to grip I would suggest getting a Harden output shaft.

DTE makes a good one.

If your not going to drag or launch hard dont worry about it. Your tires will spin before your rear end lets loose.

Good luck

As G indicated, it depends on tires and launch but I recommend both...hardened output shaft and DTE brace!

Re: Before I SC, should I...

Though my power levels was quite to that of MikeZ06, I had 712rwhp and 590rwtq and did just fine on the stock rear end and Nitto 555 RII's and NT-01's on the rear. Hate to echo the same sentiment over and over again but it all depends on how you launch. Since I'm now taking my car to track days, I invested in a DTE stage IV rear end. Did you get a billet aluminum flywheel with your Tex or billet steel? I had a SPEC stage III with billet aluminum and changed out to a Tex with the billet steel. Huge difference in how much faster the engine rev'd with the billet aluminum. I'm pulling the steel and going back to aluminum.

Absolutely, the brace & shafts are cheap$ insurance against a catostrophic breakage. Even stock I have seen Z06 rears break on a well prepped track.

I suggest that you get a set of Bfgoodrich drag radials.. They hook really really good and i liked them. On the downside they were not good on the interstate and liked to try to play tag with the other cars. Also they are only good for maybe 4 thousand miles. But I give them a thumb and a half up.. my name is Roger and i approve that message.

Re: Before I SC, should I...

Sounds good guys! Thanks for the input,
Looks like I will need to be ordering that brace and shaft soon. Just for cheap insurance at the least. I'm probably going to have to put some kind of drag radial tire on because I can break loose my BFG KDW's right now. I am running a 19" on the rear so my choices for tires are limited. Toyo is the only one that I have seen that makes a D.R. for a 19" rim. So either I go with those and have a small 30 series sidewall or I buy new smaller rims and go with another tire with a bigger sidewall.
If anyone have any more suggestions please let me know.
