Cam under $400

I can buy a cam for a small block for $180 all over but a cam for my Maggie C5 is $500. Any ideas where I can get a cam ground without Vette pricing?

Re: Cam under $400

There are lots and lots of "off the shelf" cams that will work with blower and turbo applications. They are probably just charging a lot as they know a lot of guys that buy their package will fork out the money when they think it is a "matched" cam. You can call companies like Competition direct and talk to their tech line. They will match a cam to your needs and most likely won't have to custom grind it. The cam in my twin turbo car is an "off the shelf" cam. It works fine.

Good advice from Norm here. Should only be around $350.

Re: Cam under $400

I just posted a great blower cam for sale.

In case you're interested, the reason the cams are so high compared to a standard, GenI or II small block is due to the fact that the old cams are flat tappet cams and the new ones are roller cams which require billet cores. Just be glad you don't own a Viper and are looking for a cam.
