Carroll Vortech supercharger?

Ok right now I can obtain a vortech kit that is offered from carroll supercharging. It has been modified to the extent that the head unit is now on the passenger side and it has a cog and a ribbed belt to reduce/eliminate the belt slippage problem common with vortech. And the alternator doesnt need to be relocated either, I was told it is a V2 blower. I would need fuel injectors and a tune via LS1edit or a handheld ECM reprogrammer such as superchips etc provides with a vortech new. Its satin, not polished. Its pullied for 6 psi.

I tried to look up Carrol supercharging but the name of the company has been changed to blowerworks www.carroll superchagers.com

Anyone familiar with this kit? The seller is asking for $3600., should I jump on it?

The Vortech kit comes with a cogged belt also.

Relocating the alternator wasn't a big deal when I installed my Vortech. And I specifically chose the Vortech because it came with programming and injectors and all the other stuff.

Since I've never seen this Carrol kit, I couldn't comment on it one way or the other. But I have to ask, if someone could do it for 1/2 the price as Vortech, using the same parts as Vortech, wouldn't Vortech be doing it for 1/2 the price too?

There has to be some compromise for the lower cost. Having done a Vortech install myself, I have to say I don't think there's much margin for compromise.

Oh yeah, my bad I forgot to add the kit is used. It would be nice if that was the cost of one new! Andy's single intercooler kit is right at $5k which is a good deal, but its lacking a computer programmer and he recommends racetronix fuel pump as well which brings the total cost closer to $6k with LS1.edit.

Does the seller have any pictures of the kit installed on his car? What about the kit's performance?

At $3600, it's a good price, but what if you have trouble? Where do you go? What happens if the compressor goes out in 1 month? If it were me, I'd pass. There are deals on the more common C5/Z06 Vortech kits out there all the time.

You can buy a new Vortech kit for ~$1000 off retail from some of the online vendors.

I'd second the recommendation. Buy it new. If you can't afford it, save a while longer until you can. There's just no way to tell with used. You might be buying good or you might be buying bad and once it's on the car, it's too late if it turns out to be defective.
