Highest Boost on Stock C5 Z06 Block

Just curious as to what the highest boost level anyone is running on a stock block LS6 and what internal modifications that you have. I would also like to know how many miles you have on the clock at that level and if it is a race only car or a sunny day daily driver. I know and respect what MIKESZ06 has to say about it and am 100% confident that he is correct. Just wondering how many out there are flirting with the odds of high boost and a blown engine. Please see my signature. The dyno numbers just came in yesterday after new valve springs were installed. The boost is way to high now and I will wait for a larger 8 rib blower pulley to be installed before I take the car home.

Re: Highest Boost on Stock C5 Z06 Block

it's not the boost, but how much powe/rwhp are you putting down.... You have a forged motor, right? You should be fine with an LS6 block until 750-800rwhp. I'm running a TT with a new top end but stock bottom end and running 600rwhp, with 100 octane, mixing 93/100 and or torco....
I have 4K on the car with a very safe and rich tune. I know I'll need to forged the motor, but if it makes it another 6k, I'm fine and will forged in 09 or early 10.

Good luck!

Thats inspiring for me because I am only running 7lbs of boost on mine but I would like to have more...dont ask me why...Im a guy like most of us here and 10 inches aint enough! So anyway...could I get away with 8 or 9lbs? I dont track race but I do the 40 to whatever type runs for fun...I just dont beat it down and powershift or squeel the wheels n stuff. I do have 65K on the odo at this point.
My next question...will the LS7 clutch hold 700 to the ground cuz thats a heck of allot cheaper than going to a Tex or McCleod.
Last but not least...if you had 65K on the odo, 3K of which were boosted, would you do preventative stuff like springs or whatever else...just for protection? I dont believe the previous owner beat the car down at all but you never know.

You guys want to remember one very big factor in all this. It's not just whether the internals are forged but your CR is equally important.

Example, you run a Z with a stock CR up to "750-800rwhp" and you're gonna go BOOM!

Have always been told that 6 Lbs is the redline for a stock LS6 .. If that is True and I am pretty sure it is...you are living on the edge
I Do love those STS mufflers tho

Re: Highest Boost on Stock C5 Z06 Block

Hi all,

I have the possibility to have a supercharger for my Z (2001) (procharger or vortech, not magnacharger)

I don't have any idea about how much rwhp a can gain with no mods on my Z (only suprecharger installed)
What is important to know about the LS6 and supercharger ?
Broken motor is rarely or current with supercharger ??

thanks for your help.

Regards.

Pascal

To all who have responded,

I am taking what MikesZ06 has recommended that I should do to heart. He has a vast amount of experience with boosted Z's. I'm have a 4.50" 8 rib pulley on the way to replace my 4.00" 8 rib pulley. This will take me from 17lbs of boost to 12lbs of boost and with my mods it should still yield good numbers. But most importantly it will be less stress on the internal engine components and much more reliable.

Thanks for the sound advise Mike! Your the man!
