When buying a used motor you are taking the word of the seller.
If the motor is on a pallet it would not hurt to have the engine inspected with heads and oilpan removed.
The Sleeves should be fine. The problem is has the motor been abused?
Just my opinion.

I would be leary of buying a used engine.. MTI builds awesome engines as we all know but why is it for sale? Did it use oil? Before I would buy a used engine I would see it drive it and inspect it (leakdown and compression). Then if the price is right I might buy one. Good luck. Feel free to call me if you need any more advice.
