Need some more advice please

Hello again. I droped the car off on saturday with MC racing. It is going to be getting it's pro charger set up and new rod bolts next week. When I had the car out Friday night I notced the clutch slipping a bit. After talking to Chris from MC I am going to have them do a new clutch while it it there. I do plan to take the car to the strip on occasion but my main focus is auto-x and road racing (track days). I am only looking at 525-540 rwhp. Should I have them do a tranny brace while it is apart anyway? If so will it have any negitive affect on the car's handling or dirveability?

Thanks again, Hal.

Hal, a DTE tranny brace is always a good idea if you will be taking the car to the strip occasionally. It can help save the tranny and even the shafts from some of the twisting caused by the instant torque output of even a stock Z06...especially from a dig.

I did roadracing with my Z about 3 years ago (with the DTE) brace and I felt no effects whatsoever from the brace.

Are you having them put in a new clutch?

As far as using the car for track days....if it were me....I'd just have them throw on some very good brake pads and run it until a new set of brakes is needed.

You might also want to consider some new shocks for your roadracing but I'll let the guys who do a lot of that chime in here to tell you the best brake set-up for the track.

Mike

btw Juan, who you calling old? I'm only 25

Yes I am going to have them do the clutch. I figured it would be easyer to do the brace at the same time since the tranny will be out anyway.

Chris said to use EBC pads and good fluid. What do you think about braided lines. Are they worth it?

Again, some of the regular road racers are better equipped to answer this question, but....

I think if you are roadracing regularly, the braided lines are a very good mod. However, if it were me, I probably wouldn't go to braided brake lines until I decided to redo the entire brake system to a 'racing' setup.

Which clutch are you going with....Textralia?

I think the DTE differential strut brace is good cheap insurance for a stick car, especially if you plan on running a sticky tire down the road. The problem with the stick cars is wheel hop - that'll destroy driveline components like you wouldn't believe.
