Re: Is Over 4lbs Of Boost Okay????

Suggest you provide a few more details...such as turbo or blower? What other mods do you have?
What level of boost are you considering? etc. etc ?

Re: Is Over 4lbs Of Boost Okay????

I realize you are a man of few words but you make it difficult to try and respond.

Are you talking about a C5Z or a C6Z?

Are you wanting to run higher than 4 or 5 lbs of boost?

Is this just an idle question or are you considering purchasing a Z06 and/or a blower?

Do you have particular horsepower goals or just think a blower would be

yes you are able to run higher than 4psi lol. i'm running 9psi on my procharger d1. on the meth i'm runnin 11. most kits run between 6 and 8 psi depending if you get the dual intercooler kit. i have a big single fmic on mine.

Sorry bro but I disagree. To answer his question properly, at lot of additional information was needed because there are so many variables.
Depending on mods and power goals, there are a number of different answers to his question.
Yes, I'm a little familiar with Procharger.

on a stock z06 6-8 lbs. safely at the most. there are no other variables. due to compression the ls6 is limited on boost. you already know that. he was just asking in general a procharger on a stock z06. i never said that you weren't familiar w/ an ati setup. that never crossed my mind. i just answered the question directly and responsive. anyone else would agree that you can't run more boost on a stock ls6 w/o 1.) building a bigger cc head and 2.) lowering the compression. didn't mean to make it sound like i was trying to step on your toes or anything.

Sometimes you have to get a little perspective on the question being asked. For example, since he specifically refers to 4lbs of boost, he is more than likely referring to a C6Z rather than a C5Z (even though he posted the thread in the C5 section). If he's referring to a C5Z, then he's probably just heard about the '4lbs of boost' from someone talking about a C6Z.

Also, over the years, questions like this have been asked hundreds of times. Instead of throwing out a 'pat' answer, it can help someone to more thoroughly understand the his limitations or maximums based upon the power goals he is seeking and what mods he has already done or is contemplating doing. Also, Procharger has a few different options of blowers for our Z's (P1-SC, D1-SC, F1-C, F1-R) and the max boost levels on these different blowers vary considerably depending on mods or lack of mods.

It's not a matter of stepping on my toes, because of a lot of past experience on this site, sometimes the question is not as simple as it sounds and you don't want to give out bad info to someone considering an FI mod.

I run 7 lbs on stock lower end C5 Z06 Twin Turbo. No problems.

Not exactly a stock engine though......kinda makes a difference.

Mike is right on this one. You really do need a bit more information in order to get the best advice when it comes to boost levels.

I even know that...and I'm not even FI'd (maybe F'd-up sometimes though)

PuJu Z you and Z06Man85 have less than ten posts together. Mike is a Premium Life Time Member and deserves a little respect. He was much more tolerant of you than I would have been. Run 8lbs of boost on a stock C6 Z06 bought with your money and wait for the big boom before you blindly suggest that others do the same!
