Right CAM Lift for turbo Motor
I have a TTi TT setup with a small cam with .551 lift. I'm going to forged the motor sometime in the next 12 months. looking at 346, 370 and LS2 402....
I'm leaning toward the 346 (cheaper) and I can just turn the boost up for added hp & TQ. I know with the 370 or 402 I'll have more TQ low and mid range then now- but with over 600rwhp and over 550-585rwtq, it hard to get the tires to stick in the lower gears now..... Speaking about tires, I'm running Nitto's 555R2's and like them very much. If I was looking for the next "small" jump in tire stick, what would that be.... I'm not looking at MT or ET Streets... I want something that I can handel better and stick a bit better and can take warp speeds runs in the 160-180 mph without any issues. I only go to the track 2-3 times per year, I'm not going to switch tires and I don't want to have to upgrade all of my rearend because I have very sticky tires. I want the fusable link to be the tires and well- let then smoke and not my rearend smoke and break...
Any way my question is- I was told that running any cam's over .550 lift is a waste or said another way limited returns and just hard on the springs/valvetrain??? I was looking to go with a .583, .591 or .602 lift on my next cam choice.... I'm not planning on running the best heads AFR's or ET, anyway- Patriot's or Dart's are fine for me. I rather invest money in larger TB and Fast (90/90), upgrade fuel system(which I'll have too- running with BAP only) and a twin clutch- McLoed?.. Is this even worth the money(90/90) with boosted motor??
My goals are 750rwhp max.....
Thanks!
