Ok, first off, thanks in advance. Second, I did do some searching, and I know that this has been asked before, but many of the answers were 5 years old which I dont find very useful (opinions could have changed a lot)
Anyways, here is where I am. I have a completely stock 2002 z06. I live in Salt lake city, so at this altitude I could use a little forced induction.
I dont really like the look of high rise hoods, but it seems that from my searching, the mag is the easiest to install and the most trouble free which is nice. However, the downsides are; too much low end torque and the subjectivly ugly hood...right?
So that kind of leads me to get an ATI, but I've read several posts saying that they are problematic and not the best route for a daily driver. So .....has this changed over the years? Are ATI's more reliable?
If you wanted only around 4-5 lbs of boost, and want a relatively trouble free set up, which do you suggest?

Yes, IMHO ATI Procharger's systems are much improved over the last 5 years once they started putting as much R&D into the 'system' as they had previously put in the 'blower unit' itself.
Throw on a P1-SC with 5-6 lbs boost, get it properly tuned and you should run trouble free.

I agree with Mike. He is the man when it comes to supercharger advise. I had an old system and sent it in to ATI to update the bracket and change over to an 8 rib system. There customer service was great. My local Turbo oriented speed shop is amazed at the dyno numbers that I put down. You will not be disappointed.

Well, I am not an FI guy, but I do follow what is popular. ATI has certainly come a long way with their "kits' in the past few years, as that was a big knock against them (not a real "turnkey" system). If you like to make others know you are running an S/C application, the ATI blowers will let them know.
With that said, if I were doing an S/C I'd look to the ECS Novi 2000 kit for your stock bottom end C5-Z. They have done quite a bit of R&D on their kit to make it a "plug and play" application that routinely makes 550 rwhp at low boost on stock bottom ended LS6 motors. If you go to the Corvette Forum you'll see many folks running their kits...LS1's, LS2's, LS3's, LS6's and LS7's. In fact, their first ever Novi 2000 install was done on a stock bottom ended LS1 auto coupe almost 3 years ago. That car has been flogged on the drag strip on probably 150 passes and late last year it went 9.8@138 at E'town....and yes, it still had all the original bottom end parts with the exception of an ECS blower cam. Oh, and I forgot to mention...it is a very quiet S/C...so your opponent won't know what hit them.
Do your homework and make sure you talk to your shop first (if you are not doing the install yourself) about your plans. They (or you...if you are doing the work yourself) may want to call the company whose product you've decided to purchase prior to you going forward just to make sure there are no "uh oh's."
what would i be looking at having to upgrade if i was to put a sc with low (5 to 6) psi and does all of that come with the kit usually? what are we talking about ball park figure? (without labor, just parts)

forgive my ?'s i'm an information leech so to speak. i like to know as much about a subject as i can when going into something new. (except for the 5 years i spent at college)

I agree, if I didn't go with the twins it would have been the ECS blower kit.. Doug and Chris are great guys to deal with and they put out one of, if not, the best blower kit on the market... its certainly one of the blowers with the best reputations.. I watched an auto C5Z06 running their blower with their blower cam, alky, 10psi, and drag package running 10.3s all day long at the track..

If you are asking about the pricing of the ECS kit, you are looking at $6500 for their complete kit.

Unlike some, I am not hawking for any particular vendor here. It only takes a phone call to get pricing information from whichever vendor you choose to use. I would suggest that you also get pricing for the install and tune from the location you decide to use (unless you are installing the system yourself).
I have a totally different opinion on this, but I'm a Buick guy so take it for what it's worth.
I cannot see the point in not spending the extra bucks to upgrade the internals. They WILL eventually need replacing anyway. If your talking HP/dollar there is no cheaper way to go. 6-7 PSI may get you 550 RWHP for $6,500, but if you spend the extra 3-4 grand, you can turn up the boost to a "respectable" level and make 700,800,900...
Again, I'm only a Buick guy, but my little V6 with forged internals can handle 30 PSI. No you wont get there with a SC, now we're talking turbo's!
Who are you going to listen to...Don, a guy with an 11 second 02 Z06, or Dave, a guy with a 10 second 87 Buick...an old man car? Funny how the old guy has a Vette and the young guy has a Buick.
actually i'll listen to mikesz06 cause he's old AND has a z06
mike, what would it cost to have forged internals done, if i do the work myself as far as installing?
oh and by the way your avatar still weirds me out man, i feel like he's judging me every time i read your posts
