if i'll get ati pro chrager with 5.5 lbs of boost how long would my stock clutch last with mostly street/freeway driving and some rare racing events?

That's a great question. So far my clutch has held up nicely with drag radials. But I get very little traction in lower gears. I'm curious what would happen with some ET,s. Anybody???

MAGS, all I can tell you is that when I did the H/C and S/C last summer, I replaced the oem clutch with the StarSpec at the same time. Looking at the old flywheel, I'm glad I did. I probably had 120 to 130 passes at the track on the old clutch.
On Monday the 28th, my Z goes in for the Vortech system. I'm also putting in a custom grind "blower" cam, aluminum fly wheel, clutch and output shaft. The cam is intended to help with the low end torque. I've also been concerned about the bottom end, but we'll see.

what clutch will you use?
I guess if i just drive the car and abuse it rarely stock clutch should hold the power for a while with no problems, just a guess
You'll be fine with the stock clutch. Unless you go to a slick your tires will break loose before you do much clutch dammage. I just want to be able to go to a slick if I decide to. I'm going with a "SPEC" Stage 1 HP Clutch Package and aluminum flywheel.

Originally posted by ZO6/Les ... I went with cog drive for my current system as it produces 23#'s of boost, no rib system can handle that much force

I saw a photo of the vortech being installed in another thread and it seemed to have a cog belt... does the vortech come this way or is it an add-on feature?
The relocation of everything seems annoying, but the cog belt seems worth it!

That was my Z. The belt comes that way. The relocation is extensive but necessary with the air to water aftercooler. It also makes the charge path quite short with no bends. Less frictional loss.

You are a very lucky man. Great looking install and the shop that did the work looks top notch... Are they in Ohio also?

The name of the shop is Dynotech Engineering in Ft. Wayne Indiana. They are a brand new supporting vendor! I can't recommend them highly enough. Phil, the owner, has treated my Z as if it were his own throughout the whole install. If your in the market for any tuner work, give them a call. I pick my car up tomorrow!!!!!!!!! I can't wait!

Can't wait to hear about your car (you are going to have a fun ride home!).
I'm always looking for tuners in the north east or great lakes areas. I'm in Ottawa, everything south a state or two is a one day drive. I don't want to use ARE (which is close), I plenty of friends who have had real hit or miss luck with them.

Zed,
Like I said, I don't think you can go wrong with these guys. They have taken such good care of my car it's incredible. You owe it to yourself to at least give Phil a call.
I'll post my impressions of my drive home. (If I'm not incarcerated )
