Redlight-to-redlight, I'd say the Magnusson Magnacharger would be your best bet. It's a roots type blower that will give you some extra low end torque for short runs and probably not too many problems. It won't produce the horsies that the ATI or Vortech will, but based upon your post, it might be the way to go for how you run your Z
This is always a huge debate. Mine has an ATI on it because I didn't want to drill the oil pan or change the hood. Plus centrifugal superchargers are much more upgradeable than roots.

Supercharged and a little more...
I think it depends what you want. I wouldn't go with a Magnussun (roots type) simply because I don't want to have to get a different hood. That leaves the centrifical superchargers. I have no idea what is better. I've heard good things about the Vortech and ATI.
One thing, in case you don't know, the roots type blower produces more low end power. The centrificial gives you more power on the top end. I think that the Z06 has plenty of low end power, so I would think that a centrifical would be the way to go. I hardly get traction in the first two gears as it is now.
Also, I've seen bigger numbers with the centrical blowers. Anywhere in the mid 550 range, while most of the Magnussun's that I see are 500 hp or less.
Has anyone installed their own S/C? and...
Does the car need to be taken to a tuner when adding a S/C?
I installed my own Vortech. 2 day marathon session. Quite a bit of work. I wouldn't want to try it without a lift and a large selection of tools.
The Vortech comes with programming (one of the reasons I chose it). Out of the box, it seems pretty good. My LTFTs are a little high, so I could squeeze a little more out of the installation if I wanted to (I have EFILive and LS1Edit), but I'm not sure I want to. Rather a little rich than a little detonation.
At the time I bought the Vortech, Magnusson didn't have programming for the Z (and also, I didn't like any of the hoods available). ATI did, but I don't like the long induction path required for the air/air intercooler and it seems quite a few ATI installs have trouble with belt slippage.

I had the Pro Charger installed in June of 01....Lots of initial problems, but i have 12000 miles on it now, and it does put out the #s....I have had the 3.85 pully on with gives me 8 lbs of boost...I also have the TPIS headers...My best dyno was 535 rwhp...Still have the dual intercoolers, and the single fan, it runs great...I question some of the posts that say'the z and blowers don't mix'

I agree with the "no blowers on a Z" statement. In fact, I think no one should consider putting a blower on their Z and everyone who has one should immediatley remove it (except me)

i like the centrifugals for cars cause the power builds with the rev's which is advantageous in a traction limited car such as the z06.i had an '02 svt lightning that weigh's in at approx. 2 tons(maybe a little more) and it need that low end grunt taht a roots style blower provides to get its fat arse going!! but then lately i've been reading about all these people having belt problems with their centrifugals.i guess its all a matter of who does the install(as usual!) east coast superchrging seems to have their stuff together when it comes to blowers of either type
