Once he puts in the 3.42's it will be a real street car.
To answer your question, I see very few sub-9 second "street" cars, because if you try and drive them on the street for any period of time $hit happens. I suspect Doug did what he did in order to prove a point. But there are a few mid-9 second Procharged, Novi and Vortech powered street cars running around...with their power steering in tact, AC in tact, full suspension, 6 speed/auto etc, etc,...but I doubt that they are daily drivers like your Z is/was...of course, those guys with those cars don't necessarily have the luxury of a shop at their beck and call to fix things that break/go wrong on a 9 second daily driver...if you know what I mean.
That's just the thing, I don't own a shop-I just tune for Champion and there 1.5hrs away from me. This car was put together in my backyard and on my back-lol!!!!
But it's a daily driver-when I go to Champion I drive it 1.5 hours there and 1.5 hours home, every weekend-sometimes twice. If I can get someone to come with me-I'll even drive to the Fest!
My car is a car that anyone can build in there back yard and live with on a daily basis-it's that simple.

I thought ECS went out of business not long after they stopped being a site sponsor here?
Mike
Funny, I thought this site was out of business. It was down more than it was up... so much so I forgot my log on information. But hey, ECS didnt miss it so much, ECS is still booked solid every day....***edited***
Funny to watch people cry about race car prepped cars running 8's tho.... Fact is Doug’s car gets driven to and from work, sometimes to and from the track, and amazing, still stays together. No need to work on it in the back a backyard. Of course it has "trick" parts on it. The car just went 8's on it's second pass - at 58% throttle in June!!! If it was maxed out and ONLY running 8.88...... then maybe, I could see someone crying.
To try and take anything away from him running 8's because the car has trick parts on it is the equivalent of bitching about it being hot because youre on the beach during the summer time.
BTW, to the OP, we arent a sponsor here anymore so I won't say ***edited***anything more on the subject
Yo-easy there Mike. I was one of the first to give Doug props. But I'll say it again-you can't compare my car to his car. He has a purpose built drag car for a race series-plan and simple.
The debate on where Doug can drive to with his car will never end-it's a powerglide, don't try to convince me he can drive that car comfortably anywhere on the interstate-and nobody drives 65mph.

Relax pardner, my post was just a private joke with Don. It's something we do. I know ECS is not out of business and I suspect most everyone else does too so don't get your panties in a wad.
Now unfortunately, I'm forced to go back and modify your previous post because you felt the need to do a little company self-promoting and as you are well aware, that is a no no for non site vendors.
East Coast Supercharging (ECS) installed the STS kit on my C5 Z06 with an their own turbo cam, meth kit, tex twin clutch, hardened output shaft, dte drivetrain brace.. On around 8.5lbs the car made 612/584rwhp.. first time out the car ran 10.74 at 135 with a 1.74 60ft.. its not a bad system but its not great.. it has some downfalls, one being a lag..
car runs good... if you have any specific questions feel free to pm me..
as for this powerglide debate, we all make compromises to run on the track.. removing sway bars, installing a cage, auto conversion to a Z06, drag pack.. the way you feel about putting a PG in a vette is the same way I feel about an auto in my Z. Its a compromise I would only make for the sole purpose of bettering my experience on the straight track.. Now if the track was important enough to me that would be a well worthwhile compromise but its not. So in essence, the way I feel about improving my 1/4mile experience seems to be the same way you feel about running consistent 8s all year long under competition situations without issues..
Is either right or wrong? I don't think so because it all comes down to what fullfills our needs best..

just my 2 cents..
good luck on the sale of your car..
Damn, John...when's the last time you posted over here? I guess if nothing else I'm helping on the post counts here.
Back to business...good info for the OP, John. Maybe he'll send you a pm.

Mike (from ECS) is a little sensitive, Mike.
All is well and there is actually some useful info that the AngryTiTTy was able to to supply to the OP.

i didn't think this site was still up and running.. :bang: I use to post on here all the time but activity dropped a considerable amount.. :(
If I can help the OP with his decision, id be more than happy..
lot of kits, imo, the best is the TTi... Its just a little on the pricey side.. for the money I don't think you can beat the A&A or ECS Blower kits.. Both make great power.. For me, ECS gave me a killer deal on the STS kit so I went that route.. Don't regret it because I have a lot of fun with my car.. just need to figure out how to make it quieter.. (a compromise Im no longer willing to deal with as this it is a true street car)
So a little bird whispered in your ear that ECS was under a massive attack here and you had to come a runnin' to defend the castle??
Sorry, but I find that very, very weird
Mike
actually, it was more like a 6'6" 270lb monster.. and no there was no "defending the castle".. i got a link to the post for a laugh and because that monster thought I might be able to contribute, which I did...
my comment regarding the status of the site was because I honestly thought this place was dead.. It wasn't until I got that link from that big bad monster that I realized it was still alive.. Gotta say its gone down hill a considerable amount since I use to post on here, and considering the activity on here you might want to ease up on return customers..

Not real sure what return 'customers' you're talking about unless you're buying something I don't know about ?
Actually bro, I knew you were just kidding about the site being gone anyway.
I saw you here on the site not that long ago so I realized your comment was more of a jab then truth.
Also got a kick outta your comment about how much the site has gone downhill ......shortly after saying you just discovered the site wasn't gone. That's quite an analysis to make about a site in just a few short minutes of being back here.
Am I the only one who sees a contradiction ?
Anyway, not really raggin' on you much ....at least no more than you are raggin' on the site. Is that the kind of "return customer" you're referring too??
Oh by the way, your buddy Mike just used the 'report post' function on this thread that is typically used by members to report SPAM. A non supporting vendor uses the thread to promote his company and then 'reports' the thread to the staff. Now is that irony or what

Mike
well, i think i found one of the reasons there is so little activity on here..
yes, customer.. you might want to check those records of yours because you'll learn that i previously bought Z06vette.com apparel... hey, look at that, technically I did buy something!!!
you know whats ironic is that there is something you want me to buy… its called an upgraded membership, and the blatant advertisement on the upper right hand corner of my screen is clearly begging for my money.. if it wasn’t for your piss poor attitude I might actually spend more time on here..
"buddy mike"? Ive never had the pleasure of meeting mike, but I guess youre merely assuming I have since ecs worked on my car I know him.. regardless, him hitting span has nothing to do with me and I could careless..
so happy you've decided to checkout my activity.. One would think you'd be more intrigued with trying to figure out why vendors have left this place as well as why I haven't "upgraded my membership".. If you ever decide to drop the attitude maybe that would change .. I can assure you that’s no way to win over customers..
yes, ive dropped in from time to time, only to find this place is barely active.. very few posts would make one wonder how much longer it'll stand on its own legs.. good luck with the site, you seem to be doing a TERRIFIC job of letting members know theyre welcome..
well, i think i found one of the reasons there is so little activity on here..
Let's see....because I take issue with someone returning to the site after not posting for a year so that he can take pot shots at the site itself...that lowers site activity, right?
Just a little self serving with your commments, wouldn't you say?
Also the fact that you might have hedged a bit when you said you thought the site was shut down after visiting here only recently...doesn't that raise a little credibility issue with your rant?
Look, you and Mike and anyone else need to calm down a tad and realize that no one is bashing ECS here. In case I used words that were too difficult to pronounce earlier, I'll try again...My post to Don (Benson) was a joke! He and I have been doing it for years which is why he didn't overreact like you guys did.
I happen to think that ECS is a pretty good shop and Don knows I feel that way. I've even recommended a few folks to ECS over the years and had no complaints. Even vortech's post was not an ECS bashing but rather just a disagreement over the criteria for comparing 2 different cars.
So with that in mind, let's end the paranoia that caused the site bashing posts and move on, shall we.
my street/boost car has a paxton blower kit on it with a forged 346, I kinda got tired of all of the blowby issues, I had on the sts kit in my Z, never ran much of a decent number with a forged motor, meth, fuel system, and all the necessary driveline stuff (was still 6 speed) would lose boost between gears, wouldn't hit full boost in first or second, tried pulling the cats, ball bearing turbos etc.
in the end I went with a blower on my 00 frc with another forged motor and it never needs to wait for boost. Of course I haven't had a clean pass with it (having headaches finding clutches to hold the power), but with 800+ at the wheels out of a 346 with unported LS6 heads I'm not exactly complaining.
