You pay 7% here in Arkansas. There is an offset when selling one and buying a new one though.

How long do you plan to keep the car? If you're the type of guy who buys a car and holds it for a long period of time you could go either way and be fine (from a depreciation standpoint). If you only keep cars a few years or less, the '06 definitely seems to be the better financial choice.

Is everyone forgetting one of the most important. Powertrain 100,000 miles on 07 and 08s.

If you go new, give me the lead on the 06...sounds like a decent deal. If you get the 06, I'll take the 5k off of the 08 allocation if you can turn over to someone. Give a guy a break.?? Oops, nevermind...didn't see the rear end problem.

the best deal i found was a 06 that was on autotrader.com. it was a 2lz silver nav loaded with less than 1000 miles for 61,500. i ended up getting a new 2008 for 7500 off plus another 1000 with my gm card. i think still have the guys number on the used z.

Id would be hard for me to deny 18k savings even with the 'forgotton' rear end replacement

i ended up getting a new silver 2lz nav chrome wheel for 74500 after all taxes paid. i was more comfortable buying a new car. i also wanted the option of buying the 7yr/gmpp warranty if i wanted it.
