1>4 Icon

Anyone know the purpose of the 1 (arrow) 4 icon on the C6 Z06 dash? The manual suggests that you shift to fourth from first, but why? It also suggests that doing this will clear the message, but I haven't been able to determine the purpose of this icon (dealer didn't know either). The manual also suggests that NOT shifting from first to fourth MAY damage the transmission.

That icon is actually notifying you of the 1st to 4th shift (normally only shows up at low speeds.

If your dealer didn't know this....find another dealer....fast!

It is NOT necessary to actually skip the shift to 2nd or third. If you speed up just a little, the light will go off.

Many people have eliminated this little nuisance, either through a CAGS elininator or through programming.

Ignore the manual on this......

When you shift at low rpm the car automatically skip shifts from 1st to 4th. The light indicates when that happens. Saves fuels and allows the car to avoid gas guzzler tax. You can override the skip shift with a low cost modification. The light, however will continue to operate (even though skip shift has been overrided). The light can be eliminated using an LS1 edit program from a laptop.
