2008 Z06 Pricing...discount inside!

Hi all,

I am one of the lucky ones to get the GM Supplier discount. GM sent me two coupons to share with family and friends, and considering none of my family or friends is in the market for a new GM vehicle any time soon, I thought I'd try and share the discount with a couple of you since I'm a Z06 owner who's been lurking quietly here for several years. I consider any of my fellow Z06vette.com aficionados my friend given the vast amount of time and insane amount of money I've saved getting info off this site! I was surprised to see the Z06's available at a discount, whereas last time I checked (quite some time ago) they were not.

2008 Z06 Pricing, straight off the GM Supplier website with example MSRP's:

1LZ $71,000....discount price $64,445.07
2LZ $74,045........................$66,990.69
3LZ $77,545........................$69,916.69

No hassle, no haggle pricing from your local dealership! Prices obviously vary with options.

Pretty nice discounts if I should say so myself! Should at the very least give everyone a better idea of actual dealer markup (sort of), regardless of what Edmunds or KBB says.

Here's how it works:

-You send me a bank account # to my office in Nigeria. Just kidding. Shoot me a message and I'll send you a code/GM supplier website access so you know it's legit. Furthermore, these codes can be/will have to be verified by your local GM dealer so you know they're legit. And I'm not asking for any money or personal info whatsoever! The GM Discount is good for any GM vehicle, but in the spirit of the site I'd prefer if someone used it for a new Z06. The codes are good for six months after I issue them.

I hope I'm not sitting on a volcano waiting to erupt here, but in all fairness here's what I'll do. I will sit on my a$$ and not check this thread until Sunday night, Sept. 16 at 23:59 hrs. Should give plenty of people time to see this thread and to think about a purchase. Please only message or PM me if you are serious about purchasing a new Z06 (or heck any GM vehicle) so no code goes to waste. I will make and print out a list of names, then tack it to my dartboard. While not under the influence of alcohol, I will then throw two darts. Given my lack of skill while playing darts sober, this ensures every name regardless of paper position gets an equal shot. Winners to be announced no later than the following Monday evening.

If no one responds, well then, I'll just have to reevaluate my six-month financial projections, how much I love my cammed '03 Z, how much I love my significant other, how much I value my already barely comfortable lifestyle, and take the plunge on a new Z myself on the expiration date of the codes!

Good luck!

Oops, just found the thread with a link to dealer and employee pricing http://www.oncp.net/2008%20corvette.pdf . Looks like GM still makes a killing off the "suppliers!" Still a good discount though considering what I've seen the new ones going for.

I have the same discount available also. Which dealership are you going through? The dealership I have here doesn't even have an allocation for on 08 Z06 and I'm ready to buy.

Re: 2008 Z06 Pricing...discount inside!

This is awfully nice of you, but I do have a couple of questions:

1) Before I retired, I used Supplier Pricing provided by my employer. One of the things I had to do was to prove to the dealer that I actually worked for the said company. In short, I had to provide them with a paystub. How do we get around this?

2) You say you've been lurking here for a couple of years. How do you explain the "Join Date: July 2007" in your sig block?

Sorry, but when something sounds too good to be true.......

Re: 2008 Z06 Pricing...discount inside!

Ok so I fibbed a little bit, I guess I will be checking this thread before Sunday, given the response I've seen already.

Pauln64,
The letter GM sent me does not specify a specific dealership to go through. To check the pricing on the website with my account, I did have to enter my home ZIP code, which is for Atlanta, GA. Not sure how much variation there is through the country.

Itsaz,
The first line of the letter I received from GM Supplier Discount states "How many times have you wanted to extend your discount to friends or family? Well, now you can, thanks to the GM Supplier Discount Plus ." The "Plus" is italicized, so I don't know if this is a different program from the regular "GM Supplier Discount" or what. Enclosed in the letter are two certificates to give to family and friends. At the top it says in big fonts "The discount is mine. THE SAVINGS ARE YOURS." There are spaces at the bottom to write in a "Personal Authorization Number" and "Expiration Date." Apparently there is a procedure I must go through online, but I'm not familiar with it yet since I haven't had to request a PAN yet.

As far as being a member only since July, I had to recreate my account before posting for the first time. From what I gathered, there was a server glitch or something that deleted accounts (not sure if this affected any people who posted or accounts that were "unused" as was mine). Hopefully a site admin can chime in here to back me up.

chjw and all the others who may have sent me a PM, thanks, I will get back to you as soon as I can if you have a question for me.

And hopefully if anyone else has recieved a letter from GM Supplier Discount Plus, please chime in and help let everyone know this isn't some scam (but only if you have more than a few hundred posts and are known by the community I guess, lol).

Sodian,

You do have to be a member to use the search function, which I found absolutely essential. I understand and applaud everyone's attempt to expose fraud though, and certainly don't take it personally!

Oh crap, I may have opened a can of worms here. I just took the time to read the letter and all the details, and apparently you would have to give me the last four digits of your social and your date of birth for me to give you the code you'd show your dealership. I think I just wasted my and a few other people's time with this. Flame away, I deserve it, unless the possibility of identity theft is worth several measly thousand dollars off the purchase of a $70k+ car! **BOOO HIIISSSSS** I guess that's GM's way to make sure people truly are friends and family with this program!

They probably meant for you to use it for close friends and not be just given away to a random person. I'm going to visit two more dealerships tomorrow and see if I can get my discount.

Re: 2008 Z06 Pricing...discount inside!

I have given supplier discount authorizations here before with no problem. You do however have to use your ss #. These authorizations were for other GM vehicles. Getting a dealer to honor your discount on a Z06 is another big maybe. I don't know any but the market is changing.

Re: 2008 Z06 Pricing...discount inside!

As far as I can tell, supplier discount on Z06's is not a maybe, it's a no.

"Which GM vehicles are eligible?
All new and unused 2006, 2007 and 2008 GM passenger cars, SUVs, vans and light-duty trucks, except those listed here. Saab and Saturn vehicles are eligible, although eligibility may change at any time without notice. Chevrolet Corvette Z06, HUMMER H1 Alpha and medium-duty vehicles are not eligible. Some other models may have limited availability. See your participating dealer or visit the home page and select "Vehicle Eligibility" from the "Vehicle Shopping" drop-down menu for the most current list of eligible vehicles."

Re: 2008 Z06 Pricing...discount inside!

If the Z is not eligible, what about the coupe? I have been considering getting a new LS3 coupe. How much is the discount from MSRP? Is it a percentage or a dollar amount? The LS3 I am interested in lists for abut $55K.

Whatever comes out of this, thanks for your consideration.

Same here. I bought my last truck using our Supplier Discount and gave them a paystub to prove it.

Waltstockk,
I was just trying to stick up for you with my post. You don't have to be a member to read the posts. Nothing was said about the search function.
No biggie,
