2008 Z06 Shift effort into 1/2

Searched a few forums, but couldn't find any mention. On my spankin new 08 Z06, with the shifter in neutral (or 3rd or wherever), significant effort is required to get over to the 1/2 section or line or whatever you want to call it. Once over, it shifts into 1st or 2nd fine, just takes a lot of effort to get lined up.

Compared to pushing from neutral into the 5/6 line, pusing into the 1/2 line takes probably 3-4x as much effort, it feels like the centering mechanism might be too aggressive on that side.

To put it another way, with the shifter in neutral, pushing it to the right is very easy, pulling it to the left is moderately hard.

Wondering if its just me or if its normal.

I also have an '08 and I do not have any problems at all with the shifter, smoothest, easiest shifting tranny of any of the seven Vettes I have had. You may need to have the dealer check it.

Re: 2008 Z06 Shift effort into 1/2

I have an o8Z also and it's the best shifting vette I've owned and I have had many. The one issue I did have two times was a hard 1-2 shift under load (I was racing) and I may have had something to do w/ it. Now that it is more broken in near 5000 mls and just changed over to Amsoil fluids it's even gotten better. I have no resistence going to the left w/ the shifter though. Some have had some hard shifting but most of those had very little mileage at the time of the problem. If it continues after some mileage I would take it in I do believe I read here there was a TSB on the shifter.

My 08 Z shifts perfectly fine. I would take it in for service.

I've got like 15 miles on my 08 and it is a little sticky

about going into 1st or 2nd, but not too bad. It was suggested that this will smooth out, and I am going to give it a little time.
