After market wheels

I have been looking through various sites looking for some smart street wheels. (Keeping stock standard for track) and am not really impressed with:

1. The styles, seems difficult to get the right sizes.
2. The price variations (OK Mini to Rolls agreed)
3. Lack of information concerning correct off-sets or mods needed to mount correctly. (Balance etc.)

I am looking for dark Gray/Black matt finish, preferably with "Cobra" type retro look, or an ultra modern design.

Any specialists out their care to answer this post with a definitive check list for what to look for. (I am staying away from repros).

Why not PM the wheel vendors here ... they should know offsets and such ...

My problem with most aftermarket wheels is that it is rare to see a vendor offer some evidence that these pretty wheels have been through and passed a structural strength certification process...

I agree wholeheartedly. Seems everyone want to make a fast buck by repro wheels mass produced off shore somewhere. After all, your life is riding on your tire/wheels.

Any Engineers out there that can shed some light on safety requirements (if any!) for wheels? All of us would benefit by learning more on the subject.
