All 08 Corvettes Inadmissable to Canada

Effective immediately all 08 Corvettes that are not manufacturered to Canadian specifications will not be allowed to be exported to Canada.
I just checked the Canadian Govt website RIV.Ca and there it is. "Inadmissable"
Maybe the General found a loop hole as there have been a lot of 06 and 07's imported once the modification to the front and back bumper impact rating was changed. (Approx. $1,900 fix).
With our dollar over $1.07 to the U.S. dollar there is a huge difference in Canadian and American prices.
A fully loaded Z06's MSRP in Canada is over $103,000 cdn.
A fully loaded Z06's MSRP in the U.S is around $77,000 u.s.

I believe but don't quote me that the bumper test for Canada is 5 miles per and in the U.S. 7. There are a total of 5 pieces of reinforcing that any dealer can install and are available from GM.

Re: All 08 Corvettes Inadmissable to Canada

I've been doing some research on this bullSH#T. We as Canadians are being ripped off as our dollar is more than the Americans and we still pay 25-35 percent more than our American neighbors. There is a 2 billion dollar class action lawsuit against Canadian car retailers now. read here http://www.leftlanenews.com/automake...n-lawsuit.html, now suddenly we Canadians are suddenly seeing huge so called "strong economy rebates" from makers such as porsche and nissan (Infiniti).

Our Canadian government saw this coming four years ago and made all automakers add something called theft immobilizers to all 2008 cars, obviously to stop the importation of the much cheaper U.S. models or they would obviously lose 25-35 percent in car bought tax dollars

Here is the story of one mans bid to import a 2008 corvette: http://www.reportonbusiness.com/serv.../Business/home

p.s. My next vehicle will be an American imported pre 2008 Z06 garage Queen that I can throw on a Canadian 5mph bumper... so until then take care of my car

Re: All 08 Corvettes Inadmissable to Canada

Know what the real BS is? ALL 2008 Corvettes made for US and Canadian consumption ARE equipped with immobilizers. You can check it out at www.chevrolet.com. Select cars, corvette, standard and optional equipment, and interior. It is right there in black and white and this is the US website.
The RIV couldn't find their ass with either hand. I had to send my new 08 back and exchange it for an 07 because of their incompetence.
