I plan to get a Z06 soon, but my friends and relatives are advising me to get the C6.
For some reasons, the C5-Z06 bodystyle is still my choice. The C6 style just wont grow on me. Am I just too attached with the Z06 style? I dont want to have regrets later on in case I get the Z06 - then see a C6 driving alongside.
If you were to buy a vette at this time and have a choice between the Z06 and C6, which one will you choose?

MYSELF I FEEL THE SAME AS JUB JUB , I LIKE IT THEN I DONT. I HAVE HAD THREE CORVETTES AND MY 2003 Z06 IS THE ONE I WILL NOT PART WITH. THERE IS NOT ALOT OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE C5 AND C6 TO MAKE ME PART WITH MY ZO6. BESIDES I WOULDNT BUY A C6 UNTIL AFEW YEARS DOWN THE ROAD WHEN ALL THE BUGS ARE OUT. ANYWAY GOOD LUCK WITH YOR DESICION
There are portions of the C6 I like better (Front End), and portions of the C5 I like better (sides)....For me it is a toss up between the two cars. I can honestly say I would not want the first model year of a C6 though.
From a monetary standpoint starting tommorow its been said in an earlier thread that the discounts are going to be huge on the remaining C5Z06's so order up quick.
You might want to contact Rick Daniels and get yourself all setup.
With the huge discounts coming tommorow you are definitely saving some big bucks chosing the C5Z06 and then a few years down the road you can if you like the C6 Z06 order one of those.
Good luck and I also don't feel the need to replace my existing car based off of the looks...
As far as performance goes? You can make the C5 Z06 into anything you desire.
I'm thinking 43 grand should get you a C5 Z06. maybe a few dollars less or a few dollars more..
This month GM wants to sell 5000 C5's so go for it while the gettings good.
I don't like any aspect of the car with the exception of the motor. The interior looks "rental car-ish". The rear with the plastic "Avalanche" add ons looks crappy. The open face front facia looks comical. It's too narrow and tall.
I saw the silver pics with the C6 by itself and I thought, hey... this looks pretty good for a change. Then, I scrolled down and saw it next to a C5 and just shook my head.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the cheap plastic on the bottom of the rear looks like total crap. Just take a step back and imagine what it will look like after a few rocks hit it. Also, if any of you (like me) has ever gotten even a little bit of wax on unpainted rough plastic, you know how painful it is to try to remove it. I really wish they would just produce the C5 with the C6 headlights and motor and maybe some of the interior improvements... The C6 the way they have it done up looks very disappointing. I'm sure it won't disappoint in the performance department, but the rest of the car looks like a total turd to me. The only thing that might compel me to buy one is A. The Z06 model becomes more than just a pipe dream and looks different (if the cheap plastic on the rear of the car isn't gone, I don't care if it goes 500 MPH in 2.3 seconds, I won't buy it). Or B. The aftermarket comes out with a new nose and tail to replace the crappy looking ones it comes with and the performance numbers are extremely outstanding.
I get mixed opinions sometimes though.. Every now and then, when I'm really tired it looks decent to me. Then I wake up and realise that it all was a dream and they (GM) crappified and cheapened my favorite model of car. I feel like GM Is cheapening the car so people loose intrest in it and they can kill it off like they did the Fbodys (thereby ruining more than 50 years of greatness).

I'm trying very very hard to learn to like the C6, because the C6 Z06 sounds absolutely wonderful. I'm ok with the back, the side profile is nice, and I don't know what you guys are gripping about with the interior, because it's just warmed over C5. The front is what is still holding me up. The C6 should have NEVER given up the pop-ups, and no matter what they do to it, it will never look like a true Corvette without them. I'm thinking (hoping?) that I can learn to tolerate the headlights with a good set of aftermarket covers to hide the ugly beady eyed look, but we'll see...............
I just expect too much from GM for corvette styling. They missed a golden opportunity to show the world another great generation after the C5. It needs more time to evolve, at least the C6 Z06 sounds like it is a lot better in styling.
Granted, I've only seen pictures and videos of the C6. But, I do not think it is an improvement over the C5 at all. Wierder still, I don't like the interior one bit. The steering wheel is

Would I take it over 99% of the cars out there...hell yes!
I'm convinced that the only way a C6 will look correct is in BLACK with blackouts over the headlights and the ugly plastic on the back painted black. The black color will also help hide the goofy grin on the front.
After sitting in the C6 vert and coupe this weekend I'm not motivated to trade. The interior is nicer. trunk is smaller, outside doesn't excite me. I could be swayed if 500 HP is offered next year though. I like the C5 so far.
