Best year Z06?

First off, I would like to introduce my self to the members on the forum since I am new to the Corvette. I currently drive an STi, but would like to get rid of it for a C6 Z06 in the future. My question is which is the best year for a C6 Z06 and why? any comments would be appreciated. I searched but had no luck. Thanks

Re: Best year Z06?

I am a fan of the black with a nice tint, but the Jetsteam Blue is very nice also. I would say budget would be 60k below. I would be concerned about synchro issues, but then again I am not sure if the new Z06 has tranny problems.

Re: Best year Z06?

If budget is 60k or below, an 06 is in your budget now. If you wait another six months, the 07's will be in your price range.

Or you can get an 08 1LZ (base package), for 62-64k at some dealers that I have seen.

Re: Best year Z06?

Each year has its own issues. The 2006 models had the flying roofs; '07s have the needle bearing thing with the rocker arms; 2008 models have ___? Not sure about 2008s, but that is prolly the "best" year so far. I have an '06, and have had the roof fixed: no big deal. It's a GREAT car. If I was in the market today, I'd buy an '06 due to the lower price. But honestly, I'd have to give '07s some consideration due to the longer mile powertrain warranty (assuming it's tranferrable, of course).

No dumb question's here on this site. And you won't get flamed for them either.
1LZ is the base package. 2LZ you get two position memory seats with side airbags and easy out, power telescoping steering, homelink driver visor, luggage shade, auto dimming drivers mirror with compass, outside driver's mirror auto dimming. that's all I remember. I chose the 2LZ for the side airbags and power telescoping steering wheel. 1LZ doesn't have any of the above.

Re: Best year Z06?

I will most likely get the 06 2LZ since the side airbags are included. Thank you for the quick and kind responses! I cant wait to get in a Z in the future

Re: Best year Z06?

Had an '06 & now the '08. The steering & trans are superior in the '08--by far, IMO.
Also, the carbon-look center console & stitching really improve the interior look. I was mesmerized w/ JSB which is only available on '08s so far.

I've really bonded w/ this car--love it!!!

Welcome to
Good advice above; you'll be buying used if under $60k ... take your time and the right car for you will become available ...

Re: Best year Z06?

Do most 06 have tranny problems, or was that just from your experience?
