Daily Drivers Sound Off

Who out there "Daily Drives" their C6Z, and any interesting thoughts/experiences with it?

Mine would be my Daily like my current C5Z.

Mine is a daily driver. I don't drive it if I know it is going to rain or snow; however, drive it all other days for instance this morning when I left the house it was 24 degrees.

No interesting experiences - just a fun way to commute to work which for me is 16 miles each way.

What does your oil temperature get up to on the 16 mile one way commute?

Mine is a daily driver. I got a BL/BL 06 May 9, 2006. I put 10,000 miles of daily driving on it in 6 months & loved it except for the roof flying off once & coming loose 2 other times. I traded it in November 18 for a new BL/BL 07 at MSRP. They gave me $65,000 on the trade. I am looking forward to years of daily driving. Nothing negative. Awesome car at any speed.

My '07 is a daily driver just as my '06 Z06 was. The C6Z makes a great daily driver. Just as good or better than the C5 in that respect. I can't believe some magazines say it is no good as a daily driver. No matter what the mags say, it works well as a daily driver.

The one exception is that the C6 dos not have drip rails above the door windows like the C5 did. So if it is raining and you open the door water drops in the seat.

Now there's an improvement.

I guess since they couldn't ever get them right on the C5, see below, they dropped them.

Thanks. Mine's a cold blooded beast. If I waited for this engine to come up to the temperature of the 03 Z before going to high rpms, I'd wait a long time before I could get on it. On a recent trip with outside temperatures in the 30's, the oil temp was 145 to 150 degrees in 6th gear at 75 to 80 mph. In the 03 Z, the oil temp would have been in the 195 to 205 range. I suspect with the oil cooler and just cruising, the LS 7 engine runs cooler than the LS 6 engine.

I love driving mine every day. However, like any car I own, I worry about it sitting in the parking lot while I can't watch it. I even have a private parking stall and can see the car out the window but I still worry.

Daily driver

I drive mine each and every day when possible. None of my Vettes have any snow time....that is why Jeep makes the Hemi SRT8 and Chevy makes the Tahoe.
If you spend all of your time waxing and polishing instead of driving your Z, all that you are doing is "taking care of it for the next owner".

Good news!

Just flew back to TX from Detroit and bought a Victory Red/Ebony, 2LZ, OnStar and Nav.

Still have to wait for it to be shipped from the dealer in MI.

Beautiful day up there, I wanted to drive her home, but would miss my Turkey Day plans if I did.

Should be here in a couple of weeks....looking forward to changing my sig...

LOVE to drive it every day

I drive this car EVERY chance I get even though I have 2 other cars available because it:

- makes driving a BLAST
- gets the BEST gas mileage of my 3 cars (2 Jeeps)
- is an instant shot of adrenaline
- holds a LOT of groceries (even raced a Porsche with a 10 bags in the back... NOT a good idea 8-)
- is a GREAT conversation piece with clients (I sell/lease industrial properties)
- TOTALLY intimidates all the POSERS in Porsche's and Lamborghinis
- attracts Vipers like flies on B.S. (license plate = VIPER B8)
- "looks like you" according to wife (she LOVES to drive it too after initially being VERY intimided by it

Drive it every day 27 miles each way. The mileage is averaging around 22MPG. The high torque figure makes it fun to drive. Just squeeze down the throttle and she will move. Most people around here have never seen one so they will ride beside you to have a look. They know there's something different about the way it looks. It does everything well so it makes an excellent daily driver.

My daily driver is a '07 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG. However, like my previous C6 Z06's, I have ended up driving them morning , noon and night!

My 1st C6 Z06 had 3,000 miles, the 2nd had 8400 miles and my new '07 Z06 has 650 miles in 2 weeks. My Benz has 900 miles since mid July!
