Darnedest thing. Advice for filing slight scratches in paint

Unbelieveably, two or more racoons had a party on my 08Z in my garage two nights ago. I haven't figured out where they are or how they got in there, but they found some dogfood and had a huge party pooping all over my hood and then walking through it. I tried to be gentle removing it, but I scratched the clearcoat. It was like tar. How do I fill in the scratches without removing anymore clearcoat?

Crazy stuff, and I didn't think I needed a car cover.

And, yes, this is probably one of those stories you keep to yourself, but I would rather get some advice on a good solution.

I'm afraid you are probably going to have to do some rotary buffing. Filling in scratches is only a band aid and the scratches will reappear.

If the scratches are deep enough, you might have someone wet sand a bit. I hope it isn't that deep. Doesn't sound like it is.

I to have used scratch x with good results.IF you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, well i don't think scratch x will help.time to take your car to a good detailer or bodyshop and have them wheel it out.

PerformanNorman is right if they are deep scratches. You said slight. If they are slight from pushing dirt into the clearcoat while rubbing you may get lucky. I did a similar thing when someone told me to use a dryer sheet to remove bugs because it doesn't strip your wax. well the bug parts scratched the clear. I used a porter cable w/ scratch and swirl remover from Zaino think it was called Fusion. It diminishes as it's used. Use an Orange lake country pad and use # 4 speed on the P/C. Move slow back and forth and up and down and let the Fusion work w/ moderate pressure. Do this until the fusion dries. Then buff off w/ micro fiber and inspect. I had to repeat a couple of times on some spots. Then I did it again w/ a white pad which is softer. Rotary buffing is for someone who has experience. If you grab an edge or stay in a spot 1 second too long your screwed! Ask me how I know. Then follow w/ glaze and wax ,whatever you use.
