Differences in 1LZ vs 2LZ pkgs in 06-08

Hi all-
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I tried the search and am still confused. New to the forum here, but have been admiring the C6 Z06 for a couple years from afar. I am saving my $$$ and am looking to buy a used 06-08 Z06 about 3 months from now. What exactly did the 1LZ and the 2LZ packages consisted of each year? I don't really care about nav or 6-CD system or heated seats, but the telescopic steering would be nice. Is that included in the 1LZ pkg on any of the newer years? Do all Z06's have the HUD? I gather that some 06's had roof problems, some 07's had rocker arm problems, anything else I should know?

Re: Differences in 1LZ vs 2LZ pkgs in 06-08

I think this is the 2008 data:
1LZ
MSRP* $72,125.00 Active handling with traction control
Air Conditioning: Dual zone auto climate control
Aluminum frame structure
Audio system: AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 playback, seek and scan, digital clock, auto tone control, Radio Data System, automatic volume, TheftLock and auxiliary input jack. Includes 7-speaker system Brakes: Four wheel, antilock/four wheel, disc.
Cabin Air Filtration
Carbon fiber fenders and floor panels
Cruise Control: Electronic, with set and resume speed.
Defogger: Rear-window, electric.
Door Locks: Power programmable. Includes lockout protection.
Foglamps
Floormats
Head-Up Display: With dot-matrix readouts, g-meter, vehicle speed, engine rpm and readings from key gauges (I.e. water temp, oil pressure)
Lighting: Interior with courtesy, cargo and glovebox.
Engine: LS 7.0L V8 with 505hp
Glass: Solar-Ray, light tinted.
Keyless Access with push button start
Mirrors: Inside, rearview auto-dimming with compass, includes dual reading lights.
Mirrors: Outside heated power-adjustable and driver side auto dimming body color
Seating: Front bucket with perforated leather seating surfaces, ZO6 embroidery and contrasting stitching.
Steering Wheel: Three spoke leather wrapped
Steering: Tilt-wheel, manual.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Transmission: Six-speed manual, short-throw.
Wheels: Z06 Competition Silver painted aluminum
Z06 Performance Package: 4 wheel independent, includes transverse composite springs, power steering, engine, axle and transmission cooler, stiffer springs 6 piston front and 4 piston rear cross drilled rotors with specific tires.

2LZ
MSRP* $75,170.00 Features shown below are in addition to, or in place of, 1LZ features:
Audio system: AM/FM stereo with 6 disc in dash CD and MP3 playback, seek and scan, digital clock, auto tone control, Radio Data System, automatic volume TheftLock and auxiliary input jack Includes Bose premium 7 speaker system
Enhanced Acoustic Package
Luggage Shade and parcel net
Memory Package
Power telescoping steering wheel
Seats: Heated driver and front passenger
Steering Wheel: Mounted audio controls
Universal home remote

Also, I believe, the 1LZ only has the frontal air bags (steering wheel & dash), whereas the 2LZ has the side air bags as well (seats; upper side bolsters).

The NAV is a $1750 option over and above the 2LZ package.
THe 3LZ added about 3400 more and only added the full leather package.

Maybe someone else can chime in with more detail.

Hope this helps.

Re: Differences in 1LZ vs 2LZ pkgs in 06-08

Thanks guys. I had looked on Chevrolet's website before and saw the differences in the '09's; looks like it was about the same in '08. I will probably try to stay in the '07-'08 range anyway as I want to get one with less than 10k miles. I need to do some more research on the rocker arm issue and see if there are certain VIN #'s to stay clear of...

Thanks again!

Re: Differences in 1LZ vs 2LZ pkgs in 06-08

All Z06s have the same drivetrain and suspension. What was listed in the 1LZ description is what is included in all Z06s - more or less to differentiate it from a regular C6.

The 1LZ, 2LZ, 3LZ option packages are different creature comfort/safety (side airbag) items available at additional cost. All C6 Z06's have the same engine/drivetrain.

That little blurb about the:

Z06 Performance Package: 4 wheel independent, includes transverse composite springs, power steering, engine, axle and transmission cooler, stiffer springs 6 piston front and 4 piston rear cross drilled rotors with specific tires.

is what all C6 Z06's have as standard equipment.

Some dealerships may offer additional performance add-ons not available from the factory, but that would be up to the individual dealership.

Welcome atropine! I am new here too, I just got mine a week ago tomorrow (Thanksgiving). I have been searching for months also, not too diligently, as I didn't plan on purchasing until after the new year. However, in my search, I found it! About an hour away. Not too bad. So I went to look at it....that was it! It was everything I wanted. I bought an '08 "Certified pre-owned" 3LZ, with two tone leather Blk/Linen, Chrome wheels, with 8971 miles on it. Unfortunate fellow in FL couldn't keep it. You can see pics of it in the gallery under "H". Mine is stock though, no mods....well at least not as of yet!
Best of luck to you in your search for the right "Z"! Oh and Happy Thanksgiving!
