I was at the local dealers this morning getting the differential seal replaced and they had just received their first C6 last night. It was yellow and had a base price of $44,000 and change. Including $800 destination and about $10 G's in options the sticker was over $55,000. It had the Z51 pkg. Great looking car and the door handles are pretty slick. Push button exit from inside as well (no mechanical door release on the interior). The center console has some brushed metal looking finish sections that look good and the headlights looked better in person than the photos I had seen. I was hoping for a test drive, but they were still peeling the protective plastic off and cleaning it up.
As for my differential, it started leaking this week. I took it in this morning and they replaced the shaft seal with the new seal (#88996703) and replaced the left side cover o-ring (#89047953). They also used sealant #1052942. It took about 3 hours total (they didn't drop the differential) GM only allows the shops 1.6 hours for this job. Part of that time was waiting for an exhaust gasket from another dealership (they did drop the left side exhaust, unbolted the upper control arm, and pulled the half shaft to get access to the seals. They also added new gear oil and the additive (#89021677 & 1052358), about $80 worth of fluids the tech told me. I did not get the ECL recall procedure performed at this time. I am still considering the bypass device.
Stopped back at the dealers this evening to see if I could take the C6 for a ride. The car was all cleaned up and parked in the middle of the showroom. Apparently it was pre-ordered and the owner is picking it up on Tuesday - no test drives allowed. The don't expect to get anymore until October/November and didn't have any sales literature available yet.
