Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
I drove a C6 Z06 last year during the Z06 2 day event at Bondurant and fell in love with the C6!!
I never really liked the look of the car's flat butt and that is all I saw!!
Once you get away from that and drive the car...WOW!!
My modded C5Z is close to a well maintained C6Z, HP wise, but the C6 has learned many lessons!
I'd love a ZR1 if someone would lend me the money........
Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
I just got a C6 Z06 and traded my C5 Z06 for it... the power is just great in the C6 Z...it drives very well...it takes alot less effort to shift the newer vette and goes where it pointed without effort...... My Hurst shifter made the C5 very stiff. The sound system really needs help in my 07... it's my first major mod since I really don't need to add to the 505hp...well maybe a CAI system
that how I see it

Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
The styling of the C5 looked great to me in '97. I owned 5 C5s (2 '99 frcs and 3 Z06s). The C5 styling leaves me cold today. Especially the front nose. It has not stood the test of time (except the notchback which still rocks). Imho, even the late C4 nose is better looking and looks more aerodynamic. One thing I love about my C6Z06 is the way the front of the car looks when it is bearing down on you. Sinister comes to mind.
Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
I drove my dad's mid 90's C4 and never got the whole Corvette thing. It was just ok.
Rode and my friends C5 Z and it got me thinking, but not buying.
Drove my dads C6 and I went right out and bought a C6 for myself. With-in a year I added a C6 Z. Great cars. Good price, great performance, comfortable enough to drive every day.
Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
I had more FUN driving my c5 z06. It was a much more "raw" racecar like feeling and I enjoyed that. (485hp/3100lbs)
The black C6 Z51 that I presently own is a better sports car. Lots of fun, good looking, love taking the top off all summer long....yet with all that said...if I had to do it all over again..?
I'd just drop a crate motor in my previous C5...What can I say....except ...I had more fun driving my previous C5 Z.
New cars great...very nice but not the same passion.
Interior much nicer if that matters in the C6...Much more refined for daily use too...
Personally I like the wide body look of the C6 Z06 and the new grand sport better than the narrower C6 Z51 and even the C5 Z06 that I owned too..
Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
maybe some time down the road I will convert to a C6Z...
R1!!!

Re: Finally drove a C6 - not the least bit impressed
everyone says their C6 is comfortable enough to be in all day, and yet when I take small little roadtrips anywhere from 2-5 hours, my lower back is sore from the clutch, and my buttcheeks are numb from sitting.
i know i'm only 6'0" and 145lbs, but i'm 29 and in great shape! am i being a wuss??
