I bought a new unit from Chevrolet. With my discount it was $850.00 with tax. Installed it myself which was a pain. I had to disconnect the brake lines so I could remove the entire unit. It was either that or bend the brake lines some to get the needed clearance. Took it to the dealer this morning and they flashed it for $125.00. I didn't get a break on this because of their TIS fees, which are quite substantial.
So, no more lights or codes. I will have to bleed the air from the ABS module but I'll do that at a later date with the help of a friend with a Tech 2.

Glad you got it fixed Jub, but I still don't understand why GM didn't warranty it? I would have raised bloody hell about it!

Re: Finaly, got my EBCM fixed!
That sucks, Jub. I didn't realize that C6 EBCM prices were that much higher than C5.
I know I was a happy guy when I replaced mine and everything worked again. I hate buying expensive parts that don't fix the problem, but I've done it anyway.

I know Jim. Warranty is out and the 100k drivetrain warranty doesn't cover that. I'm sort of glad I did it myself. I took my time and put everything back the way I found it. The techs at the dealer are rushed and I don't think they really care if everything goes back together the way they found it. I'm sure there are many good techs out there like Paul, C4C5specialist! I would let him work on my car. I just don't know who the others are.

I was somewhat worried that it might not work especially after spending that amount of money. My wife thinks I'm crazy for not taking it to the dealer. Women!
Glad you got it squared away John. That was an expensive computer

Hey Tom! I had my baby hooked up to a battery tender. Came home one day and the tender was blinking both green and red. It shouldn't be doing that. It should either be blinking red (showing charging) or a solid green (charged). I didn't think to much of it until I went to drive the car. I get up to 10 MPH and I get all the lights. Check ABS, Active Handling, Traction Control. It does this over and over. I check the system with a code reader and I get several codes. I can't remember them now but, basically, your EBCM brain is fried.
I removed the EBCM, sent it to a place that repairs them. They sent it back saying they don't repair EBCMs after 04 because of "hardware issues". Nice, why don't you say that in your ads!
Come to find out, EBCMs 05 and newer are designed so they can't be repaired or swapped between car without being programmed. Requires a Tech 2 and access to the GM data base (TIS 2).
Anyway, I no longer leave my car hooked to a battery tender during a storm, and only with a surge protector in line any other time.
EBCM should be very reliable as long as you ain't connected to the "grid"!
Wow! Glad it's fixed. I wonder if your homeowners insurance would have paid for the EBCM. The deductible was probably higher than $975 though. Was any other electrical equipment damaged at the same time?

My agent said it would be covered, unfortunately, my deductible is 1k.
