fob?

I hadn't seen the 08 key fob's but from what I read it has the integrated key in the fob. If that is the case, can an 08 fob be programmed for my 06?

Re: fob?

The integrated key - I think you are referring to - is to manually open
the rear hatch. You'd have to change out your lock in the hatch as
well as reprogram.

Is that what you are asking?

If I get a new fob, I know that is has to be reprogrammed. I was thinking that the key that will be in the fob can be cut to match the key now...unless it's a totally different key size.

Re: fob?

I get it. Maybe the photos will help you compare keys.

If I was closer I'd let you see mine!

Re: fob?

looks like it might be different. I am going to the Chevy dealership tomorrow, I'll ask to see if it's possible w/o having to get a new lock.

you gotta put in your mind thou that the fob key comes into 2 pieces the plastic transmitter and the metal key with the silver base
ordering the transmitter is easy .. but the metal key has to be ordered with your cars code i think in other way if you car is older than an 08 maybe you will get an old one
not sure.. be sure to ask if you can get it .. and please keep us posted

The 2006 used different locks. Sorry, but you can't do it without changing out the locks. But the fob will work no problem.

xxMFxx,
Sweet looking ride.

Re: fob?

Just inquired with the dealer about upgrading a fob on my '07. They had lost one at the dealership before I took delivery. If they can get the key cut, I will let everyone know!

The keys work on the '07 without a problem. That shouldn't be an issue.

The question in this thread is if they would work on the '06 - and they wouldn't because they used different locks that year.

Re: fob?

I considered changing to the '08 integrated key/fob for my '07, but after looking at one changed my mind. The '08 fob is even bigger than mine and as it rarely leaves my pocket when I'm driving, will be even more of a pain.

Personally, I just don't see the "no key required" a a step up, just a gee whiz answer to a question no one asked or needed.
