Future Corvette Owner, need help

Hello All,

I am based in Ft.Hood, but currently deployed in Baghdad, IRAQ. I love what I do. Always wanted to serve and I am proud to be doing it.
I am gathering information on my new 2008 Z06 upon redeployment.

I am looking to buy 2008 Z06 and looking to get APS Twin Intercooled Twin turbo set up.

I would also like to replace Intake manifold and TB (any recommendations on those) and maybe even go with HEADS and CAM set up while I am at it. What are your recommendation on Intake Manifold, TB, Heads and Cam set up with APS twin turbo set up. (where can i find more infomation on those- link/website?)

I also understand that Cluch will be upgraded and possibly few other things down the road. Car will be my daily driven car but also raced from time to time. I need it to be reliable. (if heads and cam will make it less reliable - i might just stick with twin turbo and intake, TB and replace whole exhaust)

I got lucky with 500 shares of MASTER CARD i picked up two years ago at 50$ a share and they are now at $280-300 a share. Looking to cash it out and buy my 2008 Z and all those mods listed above.

I will also be looking for a good place in texas (san antonio, dallas,) to have all this installed.

I hope to get 650-700whp out of all this if not more.

What are your recommendations?

I really cant wait to get this car. I been waiting since 2006 to get me my Z, and seems like the DREAM is coming true soon!

THank you all for your help, and I look forward to talking to you and seeing you all at corvette meetings and gatherings across USA.

Thank you all again

Re: Future Corvette Owner, need help

First of all, thanks for your service!! Your Z06 will be a well deserved reward when you return.

Second, drive the car for a while.

The thing is wickedly, insanely, crazy fast in stock form. You can't get 20% of its capability on the street or you're doing something crazy or totally illegal.

On a road course, unless you're a highly experienced driver, you'll be doing good to get 80% or 90% of what it's really capable of out of the car.

With a couple of simple bolt-on mods you can get another 50 hp out of it (all I've got is a Killer Bee intake and a Jim Hall tune, and just that probably adds 30 hp).

Then......if after you drive the beast for awhile and feel the need for more power and speed down down Hood Blvd. (or whatever the main drag is) then go for it!!! Butt....you're going to have a hard time getting all that power to hook up if you get it up to 800 flywheel hp, and you're gonna have to beef up the rear end to keep from leaving it all over the road when you launch.

Whichever way you go, you'll LOVE the car, even in stock or very lightly modded form.

Good luck with the rest of your tour!!

Bob

Re: Future Corvette Owner, need help

Ben, Denny

Thank for your input. To tell you the truth, I truly can say I love my job and what i do. To be honest, we have been doing amazing job this year over here delivering serious blow to the enemy and helping local nationals with necesarry services (water, power, etc...) amazing feeling.

However,
I used to have 98 trans am running 1.58 *Nitto drag radials* 11.7@115 (1/4 mile)back in the day before these deployments started. This is the reason i got rid of the car and invested in master card in quest for more money toward Z06 which at that time was out of my budget.

However, now i am ready for this purchase and I know that i will need something more then just stock Z, to fullfill my needs. Moding domestic cars is always been what i loved to do.

I will look into Godfather's set up and see what can i expect with this twin turbo alone at first. Then later if i still have need for more power, i will look into head/cam set up on top of the twin turbo.

So, what other after market Intake manifolds or TB or Mass Air Flow sensor are worth buying? any website that i can look this up? Any one already got stock intake replaced? Any input or recommendations on these 3?

Thanks again and be safe,

Sleep tight, while Army Fight!
