Getting service tomorrow -- CAGS, has anyone

had it turned off? You know, the 1-4 shift lock out/light thing. I don't like it one bit, but I trying to determine how best to shut it off. I don't want to risk messing up a fairly sophisticated system of computers in the 08 Z.

You can eliminate it as part of a tune or there is a module available that you plug in the the electrical connector instead of the transmission. It fools the computer that it's still hooked up. It takes longer to get the car up in the air than it takes to connect.

I'm using the same skip shift eliminator that I had on my 04 and works great w/o any type of electrical issues (knock on wood.)

The skip-shift eliminator is a must-have. About $20 or $25, and easy to plug in--just raise the back end to get access to the wiring, take it apart at a connector, and add in the new gizmo. Try Corvettes of Houston.

As has been mentioned, you can get a skip-shift eliminator to plug into the solenoid. You an also buy a 5 cent resistor from Radio Shack and wire it into the solenoid connector, but I don't know what resistance you need. Getting the weatherproof unit is probably a good idea.

Or, if you get a tune, you can tune it out with any of the tuning software programs.

If you put an eliminator unit on the solenoid connector you'll still get the 1-->4 shift light, but you'll be able to go right into 2nd with no problem.

With a tune, you won't get the light anymore.

One of the things you want to do right away. You'll wonder why you didn't do it earlier.
