help on selecting a Z06

I have deilima I am getting ready to buy a new Z06 and I have 3 choices:

- Buya new 09' with 1 LZ I can get that right around invoice 67k. ( love that new cyber gray with the painted wheels)

- buy a new 08' with 2 LZ and navigation and chrome wheels for around 64k.

- buy a very slightly used (1600 miles) 07' with 2 LZ, nav, chrome wheel and Corsa exhaust for 57k.

I know there are reare suspension adjustments made between 07 and 08, then 08 recieved a steering tuning, the key FOB was redesigned and nicer interior in the 08' (IMO). The 09' recieved more steering tuning the ZR1 dry sump system and more importantly the blue tooth integration and the competition gray color.

Can some one tell me the tuning of the steering between 07 and 08 makes that much of a difference and what you do in my shoes.

Thanks for any insight on this question.

Re: help on selecting a Z06

For me it would be a no-brainer. Buy the used one because you're basically getting a new car for a great deal and you won't have to pay sales tax, which will save a chunk.

If you're loaded, then buy it brand spanking new and be the first to fart in the seat!

You're going to get opinions from '06-'07 Z06 owners telling you that the steering is good on their cars. You're also going to get opinions from '08+ Z06 owners telling you that the new steering rack made a huge improvement. I suggest you test drive an '07 and '08 Z06 and decide for yourself since this is a somewhat subjective issue.

Good luck on your search.

Re: help on selecting a Z06

I have an '08 and the steering is fine, its all fine. I've wondered - but without much basis - if the steering in the normal '08 C6 might be nicer. (but take that with a grain, as my wheel time in normal C6s is limited and I might have been in a good mood during the test drives or something). I may like the Porsche Boxster better than my 'vette in this area, but that automochi post another gent made yesterday became a conversation topic last evening over food and... I'm going to throw a couple of thoughts in the other thread.

Both, the '07 and the '08 are good deals. If it were my money, I could go either way between these two. The '07 has very low miles and has a great price that leaves more money in your pocket. To help me decide, all I would have to do is drive both of these and I could give you an answer in two mins. Take them for a drive. Good luck.

Re: help on selecting a Z06

yeah, tough place basically a 10 k difference I am talking about. It seem a pretty good list of improvements was put together and there is the issue of warrenty. The 08 and 09 has full 3 year, the 07 not much left. I wonder if the 09 radio and Nav system has been improved. I am reading threads thet the Nav and the radio blows.

Re: help on selecting a Z06

Buy new! Avoid someone else's headache and get a full warrantee. Besides, the shifter is better in the '08.

As far as the '09 Vs the '08, think about the extra year of depreciation.

If you need to skimp, lose the nav. It looks cool but is not very intuitive.
